Abstract: A vehicle thermal management system includes a vehicle driving battery that generates heat during charging and discharging and a liquid heat transfer medium that transfers heat received from the battery. The system further includes a heat receiver that causes the heat transfer medium to receive heat through heat exchange with the battery and that includes a portion in contact with the heat transfer medium and made of a material containing aluminum. The system further includes a refrigerant heat exchanger that causes the heat transfer medium to release heat through heat exchange with a refrigerant and that includes a portion in contact with the heat transfer medium and made of a material containing aluminum. The heat transfer medium includes a liquid base material including water, an orthosilicic acid ester compatible with the liquid base material, and an azole derivative and has an electric insulation property.

Abstract: An energy conversion system includes an energy converter, a cold generator, and a liquid water obtainer. The energy converter is configured to convert energy of a source from one form to another form and generate heat and water vapor. The cold generator is configured to generate cold using the heat generated by the energy converter. The liquid water obtainer is configured to condense the water vapor using the cold to obtain liquid water. Accordingly, the water vapor generated from the energy converter can be cooled efficiently. Therefore, efficiency in obtaining the liquid water can be improved compared with a case where the water vapor is cooled by open air.

Abstract: A heat storage unit or a heat storage system is a heat storage unit including: a heat storage portion having a first material with a strongly correlated electron system material; and a heat conduction portion having a second material higher in a thermal conductivity than the first material and being in contact with the heat storage portion. The heat storage unit may have a laminated structure in which the heat storage portion and the heat conduction portion are alternately laminated on each other. For example, a metal-insulator phase transition material or a transition metal oxide may be used as the strongly correlated electron system material. The second material may be metal or ceramics.

Abstract: A magneto-caloric effect type heat pump apparatus provides a thermo-magnetic cycle apparatus. A magnetic field modulating device has a rotary permanent magnet. By rotating the permanent magnet, magnetic field applied to a magneto-caloric element is modulated alternatively in a magnetized state and a demagnetized state. A magnetized period, when the magnetic field is applied, is shorter than a demagnetized period, when the magnetic field is removed. Thereby, it is possible to reduce weight of the magnetic field modulating device having the permanent magnet. The magneto-caloric element has a heat exchange portion which varies heat exchanging efficiency depending on flow directions of a heat transport medium. The heat exchanging efficiency in the magnetized period is higher than the heat exchanging efficiency in the demagnetized period. Therefore, it is possible to provide sufficient heat exchanging quantity even in a short magnetized period.

Abstract: A fuel carburetor includes a fuel passage, a heat medium passage, a space part, and an absorbent material. Ammonia as fuel flows through the fuel passage. The heat medium passage is arranged adjacent to the fuel passage, and a heat medium flows through the heat medium passage. Ammonia gas leaking out of the fuel passage flows into the space part. The absorbent material is provided in the space part for absorbing the ammonia gas. The fuel carburetor is configured to exchange heat between the fuel flowing through the fuel passage and the heat medium flowing through the heat medium passage so as to heat and vaporize the fuel.

Abstract: A heat transfer system has an energy converter, a heat transfer medium, a transfer part, and a heat exchanger. The energy converter converts an energy of an energy source into an energy in a different state and generates a heat while converting the energy. The heat transfer medium is in a liquid state and receives the heat from the energy converter. The heat exchanger dissipates the heat from the heat transfer medium to an outside of the heat transfer system. The heat transfer medium contains H2O and a solute compatible with the H2O. The solute has a molecular structure including two hydroxyl groups. A length of a binding chain between an oxygen atom of one of the two hydroxyl groups and an oxygen atom of an other of the two hydroxyl groups is shorter than a length of a binding chain between two hydroxyl groups of an ethylene glycol molecule.

Abstract: An energy management system is applied to a vehicle having a first power source, a first converter, an electricity storage part, and a second power source. The energy management system has a second converter, a heat storage part, a mode switching part, and a controller. The mode switching part switches between a heat storage mode and a heat radiation mode. The heat storage part changes to a first phase in a solid state when a temperature of the heat storage part is lower than or equal to a phase transition temperature, and changes to a second phase in a solid state when a temperature of the heat storage part exceeds the phase transition temperature. The controller controls the operations of the second converter and the mode switching part based on at least one of an electricity storage condition of the electricity storage part and a conversion condition of the first converter.
