The present invention provides a substrate applicable in a chip LED package, the substrate having a conductive layer, an insulation layer and a heat-dissipation plate in this order, wherein the insulation layer comprises a liquid crystal polyester soluble in a solvent and a sheet comprising inorganic fibers and/or organic fibers. The substrate has a small linear expansion coefficient of the insulation layer in the surface direction and is extremely useful for production of a chip LED package while having a practical heat resistance.

The present invention provides a method for producing a copper-clad laminate, the method comprising the step of placing at least one copper foil onto a resin layer containing a liquid crystalline polymer so that the resin layer adheres to a surface of the copper foil, wherein the surface of the copper foil has 0.4 or more of a ratio of nickel concentration to copper concentration and has substantially no silicon detected when measured with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The copper-clad laminate can sufficiently maintain excellent adhesion between the copper foil and the resin layer even under high temperature and humidity atmosphere.

The present invention provides a resin composition comprising (A) a polyethersulfone-based resin and (B) a compound having a weight reduction starting temperature determined in JIS K7120 of 150° C. or higher, a melting point of 100° C. or higher and a molecular weight of 500 or less, in a ratio (A):(B) within a range of from 100:5 to 100:1, in terms of a weight ratio. The polyethersulfone-based resin composition has high fluidity in a molten state and emit deduced smaller amounts of gas in processing. The molded article obtained from the composition also generate smaller amounts of gas discharged while being utilized.

The present invention provides a method for producing a thermoplastic resin composition, the method comprising a step of melt-kneading 5 to 55 parts by weight of an aromatic polycarbonate resin and 95 to 45 parts by weight of an aromatic polysulfone resin while shearing at a sharing speed of 1,000 to 9,000/sec. By the method, a thermoplastic resin composition excellent heat resistance and transparency can be obtained.

Disclosed is a digital still camera in which amount of exposure is decided appropriately even when there is a changeover from one shooting scene to another. When a shooting mode is set, a first shooting scene discrimination is performed before a shutter-release button is half-pushed. A first amount of exposure is calculated using a program diagram suited to the shooting scene that has been discriminated by the first shooting scene discrimination. Shooting for focusing control is performed at an exposure corresponding to the first amount of exposure, whereby image data is obtained. Focusing control is carried out based upon the image data obtained, and shooting is performed again. Second shooting scene discrimination is performed based upon the image data obtained by shooting. A second amount of exposure is calculated using a program diagram suited to the shooting scene that has been discriminated by the second shooting scene discrimination. Shooting for recording purposes is performed at the exposure corresponding to the second amount of exposure and the image data obtained is recorded.

The retinal pigment epithelial cell is prepared by (a) inducing differentiation of a human pluripotent stem cell into a pigment cell by adhesion cultivation of a human pluripotent stem cell in a medium containing a Nodal signal inhibitor and a Wnt signal inhibitor in the absence of a feeder cell to give a culture containing the pigment cell, (b) subjecting the obtained culture to further adhesion culture to give a culture containing a pigment cell colony, and (c) isolating the pigment cell from the obtained culture and culturing the cell to give a retinal pigment epithelial cell.

An object of the present invention is to produce a liquid crystal polyester film having excellent thermal conductivity in a thickness direction. Provided is a liquid crystal polyester film, which comprises casting a liquid composition containing a liquid crystal polyester and a solvent; removing the solvent; raising a temperature from 150° C. or lower to a temperature between a liquid crystal transition temperature and 80° C. above the liquid crystal transition temperature of the liquid crystal polyester at a rate of 1.0° C./minute or more; and heat-treating the obtained film at a temperature between the liquid crystal transition temperature and 80° C. above the liquid crystal transition temperature of the liquid crystal polyester. It is preferred to use, as the liquid crystal polyester, those having a liquid crystal transition temperature of 320° C. or lower.

The present invention provides a method for producing a liquid-crystalline polyester powder, the method comprising: carrying out melt polycondensation of monomers and/or its acylated monomers to obtain a corresponding polyester having a flow initiation temperature of 240 to 300° C.; spreading and solidifying the polyester so as to be a layer thereof with a thickness of 1 cm or more: crushing the solidified substance to obtain a powder having a volume average particle diameter of 3 to 30 μm; and subjecting the powder to a heat treatment to obtain a powder having a flow initiation temperature higher than the flow initiation temperature of the liquid-crystalline polyester after the melt polycondensation.
