Abstract:
Polyamide copolymers, and methods of making and using polyamide copolymers, having 2,5-furan dicarboxamide units are disclosed herein. Such polymers can be useful for engineering thermoplastics having advantageous physical and/or chemical properties.
Abstract:
Polysiloxane-based materials, which include metal species, are provided. The polysiloxane-based compositions and materials generally include (i) amino-functional polysiloxane material and (ii) a plurality of metal species distributed within the polymeric material. Polymer based compositions in which the amino-functional polysiloxane material includes quaternary ammonium groups, e.g., tetraalkyl ammonium groups, are examples of suitable materials which may be used to form the present compositions. The metal species, which may be in an oxidized and/or neutral state, may be bonded, coordinated, chelated, suspended, and/or dispersed within the polymeric material.
Abstract:
A family of polyethylenimine biocides of formula (I): wherein R1 is hydrogen, a branched ethylenimine, a tethered antimicrobial moiety, or a branched ethylenimine having a tethered antimicrobial moiety is described herein. The polyethylenimine biocides may be used in a variety of consumer products, coatings, coating compositions, and medical devices to prevent growth of microorganisms.
Abstract:
Functionalized cross-linked polysiloxanes, such as quaternary ammonium terminated cross-linked polyalkylsiloxanes are described herein. The functionalized cross-linked polysiloxanes may be used in an antifouling composition to prevent biological fouling in aqueous and/or marine environments.
Abstract:
Blends of oligomeric urethane multi(meth)acrylate; optionally at least one other monomer selected from the group consisting of acrylic monomers, styrenic monomers and ethylenically unsaturated nitrogen heterocycles, preferably a polyol multi(meth)acrylate; and nanoparticles of an ethylenically unsaturated, preferably (meth)acrylic-functionalized, titanium or zirconium compound can be cured by ultraviolet radiation in contact with a photoinitiator to produce optical resinous articles having high refractive indices, haze ratings of at most 5% and other properties which may be tailored according to the desired use.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for creating a combinatorial coating library including a coating system operatively coupled to at least one of a plurality of materials suitable for forming at least one coating layer on a surface of one or more substrates. The systems and methods also including a curing system operative to apply at least one of a plurality of curing environments to each of a plurality of regions associated with the at least one coating layer, the curing system comprising a plurality of waveguides each having a first end corresponding to at least one of the plurality of regions and a second end associated with at least one curing source. The combinatorial coating library comprising a predetermined combination of at least one of the plurality of materials and at least one of the plurality of curing environments associated with each of the plurality of regions.
Abstract:
An end capped polyester ionomer composition comprising alkylene aryl polyester copolymer metal sulfonate units with end capping units formed by a reaction of the polyester copolymer with an epoxy compound having at least one cyclohexane ring moiety and a terminal epoxy functional group being a substituent on at least one cyclohexane ring moiety.
Abstract:
Amphiphilic copolymers formed from plant oil-derived vinyl ether monomers and polyethylene glycol alkyl vinyl ethers are provided. Nanoparticles coated with these amphiphilic polymers are well-suited for water remediation applications.
