The compositions are useful as coatings or incorporated as melt additives. The fluorochemical compositions impart oil and water repellency to the substrate. In other aspects, this invention relates to processes for imparting oil and water repellency characteristics to substrates and articles.

According to the present invention, a polyester resin composition superior in the impact resistance, especially low-temperature impact resistance, and in the stiffness as well as in the fracture toughness can be obtained. The polyester resin composition according to the present invention is a composition which comprises, per 100 parts by weight of a polyester resin (A), 5-200 parts by weight of a graft-modified ethylene/&agr;-olefin random copolymer (B) obtained by grafting onto an ethylene/&agr;-olefin random copolymer (B-1) composed of ethylene unit and of an &agr;-olefin unit of 6-20 carbon atoms an unsaturated carboxylic acid or its derivative (B-2), wherein the grafting amount of the unsaturated carboxylic acid or its derivative (B-2) is 0.01-10% by weight and wherein the said ethylene/&agr;-olefin random copolymer (B-1) before being graft-modified has (a) a content of the &agr;-olefin unit of 6-20 carbon atoms of 6-25 mole % and (b) a melt flow rate (ASTM D 1238, 190° C., 2.16 kg load) of 0.1-50 g/10 min.

Powder coating compositions for metal substrates, a method of powder coating a metal substrate, and a metal article are disclosed. The powder coating composition is a thermoplastic material and comprises: (a) a first polyester having a weight average molecular weight of about 10,000 to about 80,000 and a Tg of greater than 45° C. to about 100° C., (b) a second polyester having a weight average molecular weight of about 10,000 to about 70,000 and a Tg of about −10° C. to about 45° C., and optionally, (c) a modifying resin, such as an epoxy resin having an epoxy equivalent weight of about 500 to about 15,000, wherein the Tg of the first and second polyesters differ by about 5° C. to about 60° C. The powder coating composition is applied to a metal substrate to provide a composition film having a thickness of about 1 to about 200 microns.

To attain the purposes, a carboxyl-modified metallocene catalyzed polyolefin elastomer or a glycidyl methacrylate adduct to the elastomer is melt-blended with a thermoplastic polyester resin, particularly, the powder of recycled PET bottles. Additionally, a filler can be mixed, if necessary.

The nonwoven material may be produced using thermoplastic compositions which comprise an unreacted mixture of a poly(lactic acid) polymer; a polybutylene succinate polymer or a polybutylene succinate adipate polymer, or a mixture of such polymers; and a wetting agent. The thermoplastic composition exhibits substantial biodegradable properties yet is easily processed. The biodegradable nonwoven materials may be used in a disposable absorbent product intended for the absorption of fluids such as body fluids.
