    摘要: The present invention relates to microspheres comprising protein signal precursor molecules, or a carrier protein bonded to signal precursor molecules, wherein said signal precursor molecules are activatable to generate a detectable signal whilst remaining bonded to the carrier protein. Also disclosed is a method of making such microspheres comprising the steps of mixing protein molecules with a matrix former in solution; adding a reducing reagent to the mixture; removing the reducing reagent; and removing the matrix former to leave microspheres of protein molecules. Also disclosed are bioassay methods using the microspheres to provide signal amplification, including an amplification cycling procedure.

    摘要: The present invention provides a combination dosing regimen for erythropoietin (EPO). More particularly, the present dosing regimen includes administration of at least a first dosing segment comprising a first exposure to EPO capable of stimulating the production of reticulocytes followed by a second exposure to EPO capable of sustaining the maturation of the reticulocytes into neocytes, and ultimately, red blood cells. Advantageously, the dosing segment may be cycled or repeated, any number of times and according to any desired time scheme, in order to provide or maintain any desired total red blood cell count and/or hemoglobin concentration. Methods of treatment employing the combination dosing regimen, as well as kits are also provided.

    摘要: An alignment device provides one or more references, such as laser lines and planes in horizontal and vertical orientations. One version of the alignment device includes an optics mounting assembly situated in a pivot socket on a frame to provide an output beam. Multiple spring systems and one or more alignment assemblies align and secure the optics mounting assembly in the socket. As a result, the output beam has a desired orientation with respect to true level. A first spring system directs the optics mounting assembly through the pivot socket. A second spring system holds the optics mounting assembly in communication with the alignment assemblies to reduce system backlash. One implementation of the pivot socket has a surface in the form of a sphere's interior surface. A set of support members on the optics mounting assembly rest on the pivot socket's spherical surface—causing the output reference beam to extend from the center of a sphere including the socket's spherical surface. This reduces the translation of the output reference beam's origin when the optics mounting assembly pivots in the socket.
