    Abstract: A solid crystalline material of formula (I): AzDY4Xx, wherein each A is independently selected from Li, Na, K and Mg; D is selected from Si, Al, P, B, Ga, Ge, S, Mo, W, V, Sn, Sb, Nb and Ta, or a mixture thereof; each Y is independently selected from O, S, F, Cl, Br or a mixture thereof; each X is independently selected from F, Cl, Br, I, O, S, BH4 or a mixture thereof; z is from 2 to 8; and x is from 1 to 3. The solid crystalline material suitably provides a solid ionic conductor for use in a solid-state battery. A mixed solid crystalline material comprising the solid crystalline material, a solid-state battery comprising the solid crystalline material and a method of preparing the solid crystalline are also disclosed.

    Abstract: Responsive or degradable branched polymers may be prepared by the free radical polymerisation of a multivinyl monomer in the presence of a chain transfer agent, using a source of radicals, wherein the extent of propagation is controlled relative to the extent of chain transfer to prevent gelation of the polymer. The multivinyl monomer may comprise a cleavable group, for example an ester, or a multiplicity of such groups, between two vinyl groups. Said monomer may be a macromonomer containing multiple cleavage sites.

    Abstract: A method of selecting wavelengths of radiation for discriminating a first cell or tissue type from a different cell or tissue type is described. First and second sets of absorption spectra are obtained, each set comprising spectra obtained at a plurality of different spatial regions of the first cell or tissue type and of the different cell or tissue type, respectively. Sets of corresponding metrics are defined for the first and second sets of absorption spectra for each spatial region. Each metric comprises information corresponding to the absorption for at least two different wavelengths. The metrics in each set comprise different combinations of wavelengths. A characteristic value is generated for each metric. Distributions are generated for each metric using corresponding characteristic values for the first cell or tissue type and for the different cell or tissue type and compared to determine an extent of similarity. The metrics are ranked based on the extent of similarity and wavelengths associated with higher ranked metrics, having higher similarities, are selected.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and apparatus for frequency-domain optical interferometry imaging. Embodiments of the invention include an apparatus comprising a line-shaping optical element for directing optical radiation into a line illumination, an imaging optical element for receiving optical radiation comprising radiation reflected from a target sample and a reference point associated with the target sample, and a detection unit for measuring common path interferences between a plurality of reflections from the target sample and the reference point. Embodiments of the invention include a method comprising directing radiation into a line illumination, directing the line illumination towards a target sample, receiving radiation reflected from the target sample at a detection unit, and measuring common path interferences between a plurality of reflections at the target sample and a reference point.
