摘要: A deactivator having a deactivation antenna coil and a capacitor to store energy. The deactivator converts the stored energy to an alternating current over a deactivation period to generate a deactivation magnetic field when driven through the deactivation antenna coil during the deactivation period. The alternating current defines a ring down envelope during the deactivation period. An energy recovery module having an electrical impedance is coupled to the deactivator to recover a portion of the energy converted to the alternating current during a portion of the deactivation period based on the impedance. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

The core antenna may include a core, a first resonant winding disposed around at least a portion of the core, the first resonant winding having a first number of winding turns N1, and a second non-resonant winding disposed around at least a portion of the core, the second non-resonant winding having a second number of winding turns N2, the second number of turns greater than or equal to the first number of turns. The core antenna may be mounted on a shield plate and tuned to an operating frequency on the shield plate such that when the shielded core antenna is further mounted on a mounting surface, e.g., of a checkstand, no significant de-tuning of the antenna takes place.

摘要: An electronic article surveillance antenna system for wide exit interrogation zones is provided. In a first aspect, a first and a second transmit antenna, each adapted for installation on opposite sides of a wide interrogation zone. A third transmit antenna is adapted for installation adjacent the ceiling of the wide interrogation zone. The first, second, and third transmit antennas are connectable to a transmitter for generation of an interrogation signal for transmission into the wide interrogation zone. A plurality of amorphous core receiver antennas are adapted for installation in the grout region of a floor of the wide interrogation zone. The output of each of the plurality of amorphous core receiver antennas are connectable to a receiver for detection of a response signal from an electronic article surveillance tag disposed in the wide interrogation zone. The response signal is responsive to the interrogation signal. The plurality of amorphous core receiver antennas can be configured in a plurality of orthogonal pairs of amorphous core receiver antennas. In a second aspect, the transmit antennas are loop antennas and the receiver is comprised of a plurality of amorphous core receivers adapted for installation on opposite sides and the ceiling of the wide entrance.

摘要: A patient bed (1) of an MR imaging apparatus is provided with a tube (17) through which pre-polarised fluid can be injected into a patient in order to improve contrast when imaging veins, arteries or other vessels in the body. Fluid is delivered from pump (2) into a high field polarising magnet (3) and along a tube (4) to the patient. Valve (5) is provided so that fluid in the tube (4) downstream of the pre-polarised fluid can be discarded rather than being injected in the patient, and is associated with a reservoir into which the fluid to be discarded and the pre-polarised fluid can be rapidly injected. Then, when the pre-polarised fluid is injected into the patient, its magnetisation has not deteriorated by as much as it would have done if the tube (4) had been directly connected into the patient.

摘要: A system and method for transferring power using a data communications signal line. The data communications signal line is in a high impedance powerless state when idle. A main device is electrically coupled to the data communications signal line. The main device generates and transmits a signal on the data communications signal line. The signal includes power generation and non-power generation characters. A peripheral device is electrically coupled to the data communications signal line. The peripheral device has a functional unit arranged to perform a desired function for the peripheral device. A power conversion module is electrically coupled to the data communications signal line and receives the signal. The power conversion module converts power from the received signal to a form suitable for storage. A controller is in electrical communication with the functional unit and the power conversion module. The controller receives the power generation and non-power generation characters, strips the power generation characters from the signal and transmits the non-power generation characters to the functional unit.
