The communication system includes an automatic original feeder and an image reader that transmit and receive data simultaneously. A CPU provided in the automatic original feeder determines error of reception data. The CPU adds the result of the determination to transmission data being transmitted to the image reader. One of the automatic original feeder and the image reader acts as a slave, and the other acts as a master.

摘要： There is provided a punching device including: a die member having a plurality of die holes formed therein; a plurality of punch members which are caused to advance into the die holes to punch holes in a member to be punched; an operating member having cam portions formed along a direction intersecting the direction of advancement of the punch members, the operating member being moved along the direction intersecting the direction of advancement of the punch members to cause by a conversion function of the cam portions the punch members to advance into the die holes; and a drive unit for selectively causing advancement of the plurality of punch members by changing the direction of movement of the operating member. In the punching device, each of the cam portions has a straight groove and a cam groove for performing the conversion function, and when the operating member is moved in one of opposite directions, at least one of the cam grooves of the cam portions acts on one of the punch members to selectively cause the same to advance.

摘要： There is provided an original conveying apparatus for conveying an original to an image reading section of an image forming apparatus, which is capable of preventing the number of times of writing to a nonvolatile storage medium that stores a correction value for the light emission amount of an optical sensor from exceeding a limited number of times even when adjustment of the light emission amount of the optical sensor is carried out frequently, reducing as far as possible the number of times of writing data to the storage medium that can store such data a limited number of times, thereby eliminating the occurrence of inconvenient situations such as it being impossible to maintain proper output processing, and lengthening the lifetime of the storage medium. Writing of the correction value for the light amount of the light-emitting section of the optical sensor to an EEPROM is carried out if the correction value has changed by at least a predetermined amount relative to the value before adjustment but is not carried out if the correction value has not changed by at least this predetermined amount relative to the value before adjustment.

摘要： An information projecting apparatus has a plurality of cartridges each containing an information recording medium are stored in a storage section. A desired cartridge in this storage section may be retrieved and transported to a first position. The recording medium in the cartridge placed in the first position is transported to a projecting unit, where the information of the recording medium is projected. When an outer cartridge containing an information recording medium is to be used instead of a cartridge from the storage section, the outer cartridge is disposed at a second position. The recording medium in the cartridge placed in the second position is transported to the projecting unit, and the information contained in the recording medium is projected at the projecting position.
