Abstract:
Ablation devices and associated methods are provided for use in palliative treatment of a bone tumor on or in a compact bone region. The bone treatment devices include an elongate probe having a distal end. A proximal end of the probe supports placement in a location at or adjacent to the bone tumor. Electrodes are carried within the probe for deployment from the distal end into the bone tumor. The electrodes may be shapable to create, upon deployment, an array of electrodes that defines a geometric area within the bone tumor. Application of energy, for example energy from a radio frequency (RF) source, to the area of the bone tumor via the electrodes destroys at least a portion of the nerve receptors located in or adjacent to the tumor and produces a reduction in pain associated with the bone tumor. Liquid, such as a polymer in liquid form, may be injected through an electrode needle, with electrode heating being employed to allow introduction of the polymer solution through the needle and/or hardening at the site of injection.

Abstract:
A method for movably connecting two members. The method comprises the steps of molding a first member in a first mold portion and placing the first member within a second mold portion. The method also includes inserting molten material into the second mold portion to form a second member. The method further includes limiting contact between the first member and the material to prevent bonding between the first member and to permit relative motion between the members. The method also includes cooling the molten material into a solid form, whereby an assembly is formed from the first and the second member. The method further includes removing the members from the second mold assembly.
Abstract:
A mounting apparatus for mounting a rotating element to a housing is disclosed. The housing defines an opening through a wall of the housing. The mounting apparatus includes a tube including an aperture therethrough. The tube includes a first tube portion thereof including a cylindrical outer periphery and a second tube portion thereof connected to the first tube portion and securable to the opening through the wall of the housing. The mounting apparatus further includes a cap including a body portion thereof having a body outer periphery thereof matingly fitted to the aperture of the tube. The cap further includes a flange extending outwardly from a first end of the body portion in a direction perpendicular to the body outer periphery of the body portion of the cap. The cap further including a connector extending from a second end of the body portion opposed to the first end. The connector is utilized for connecting the cap to the tube.
Abstract:
A device for storing a supply of particles for use in a developer unit of an electrophotographic printing machine is provided. The device includes an open ended container defining a chamber in communication with the open end thereof. The particles are stored in the chamber of the container. The device also includes a resilient member cooperating with the container to urge the container in the direction of the open end. The member defines a longitudinal axis and includes conofrustrical shaped segments. The member is collapsible in the direction of the longitudinal axis. The member includes a body defining a cavity therein.
Abstract:
A slide mechanism for mounting a sliding member to a housing is provided. The mechanism includes a body having first and second opposed surfaces. The sliding member is mountable to the body. The mechanism also includes a plurality of journals extending from the body. Each of the plurality of journals has a central axis thereof. The mechanism also includes a plurality of rollers. Each of the plurality of rollers is rotatably fitted to one of the plurality of journals. The plurality of rollers is operably connectable to the housing. At least one of the body and the plurality of journals are molded from a moldable material.
Abstract:
A method for fabricating an electrically conductive article of manufacture, comprising printing an image corresponding to the article of manufacture onto an expungeable substrate using a conductive ink or conductive toner material and subsequently disposing of the expungeable substrate having the image thereon so that only the article of manufacture remains. The method is particularly adapted for use in producing a control grid of a corona generating device as utilized in electrostatographic printing apparatus.
Abstract:
A shaft including a rotatable, torque transmitting elongated member is provided. A portion of the shaft is hollow and has an inside surface defining a shaft core. The elongated member has an outside surface including a torque transmitting portion and a functional feature portion. The elongated member has a one piece construction.
Abstract:
An improved simple and low cost tamping system for a printed sheets compiling system directly driven by partial rotation of a reversible stepper drive motor driving a single molded plastic tamper drive unit. That tamper drive unit integrally includes a rigid radially extending portion rotatably driven by the drive motor, an elongate flexible member portion driven from one end by the rigid rotatable portion, and a tamper at the opposite end of the elongate flexible member. The elongate flexible member is slidably mounted in a fixed guides system to smoothly transition from an initial arcuate configuration to a final linear configuration to convert reversing partial rotational movement of the stepper drive motor into the desired substantially linear reciprocal sheet edge tamping movement of the tamper. Simply by rotating the stepper motor by a greater amount of rotation the desired initial position of the tamper can be reset when the sheet size or the desired stacking position of the sheets to be tamped is changed.
