    Abstract: A system includes: a cylinder head for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine where the cylinder head includes, per cylinder, a first exhaust valve and a corresponding first exhaust port and a second exhaust valve and a corresponding second exhaust port and where, for simultaneous control of the first exhaust valve and the second exhaust valve of a cylinder, for that cylinder, the cylinder head delivers a quantity of exhaust via the first exhaust port and a different quantity of exhaust via the second exhaust port; a first exhaust turbine in fluid communication with the first exhaust ports of the cylinder head; and a second exhaust turbine in fluid communication with the second exhaust ports of the cylinder head.     Abstract: A dual path exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system for an engine includes a common EGR intake path and first and second low pressure EGR paths including respective first and second EGR valves. The common EGR intake path is connected to the exhaust system downstream of a catalyst and includes an EGR cooler. The first EGR path is coupled directly to the EGR cooler and an inlet of a turbocompressor. The second EGR path is coupled directly to the EGR cooler and the intake system, thereby bypassing the turbocharger and an engine throttle valve. The engine includes an absence of any high pressure EGR path and the EGR valves are controlled such that the first EGR valve is closed and the second EGR valve is open at low engine speed and load operating conditions thereby providing EGR directly to the intake system that bypasses the turbocharger and throttle valve.

    Abstract: A variable geometry compressor having a housing, a compressor wheel and a plurality of vanes positioned between an exducer of the compressor wheel and a housing volute. The vanes are adjustable through a range of positions, but a vane actuation system is configured to actuate the vanes through three discrete positions from among the range of positions. The actuation system has an actuator that includes an actuator housing containing a diaphragm that divides a housing chamber into two portions. Through the application of a vacuum to either chamber portion, the diaphragm drives a rod to actuate the vanes between two of the discrete vane positions, while a spring returns the vanes to the third position when no vacuum is applied. The actuator is controlled by an open-loop controller.
