The time delay between each of the pulses of electromagnetic radiation and the generation of the electric signal corresponds to the position of the analyte at any of one or more positions at different distances from the surface of the transducer. The label is a nanoparticle comprising polypyrrole or a derivative thereof. The invention also provides a kit suitable for performing this method.
