Abstract: A motorcycle rear wheel suspension and drive arrangement to minimize chain length changes during suspension travel. The driving chain for the rear wheel is driven by a stub shaft carrying a sprocket and the pivot axis for the trailing arm is disposed within the peripheral edges of the sprocket but not aligned with the axis of the stub shaft so that the driving sprocket may be removed without removal of the suspension arm or any of its suspending components.

Abstract: A fuel injection and control system for a V-type, two cycle, crankcase compression, internal combustion engine. The fuel injection system includes fuel injectors positioned in the valley of the engine and which are supplied with fuel under pressure from a fuel tank through a line in which a fuel filter and fuel pump are positioned. The fuel pump and fuel filter are disposed at one end of the engine and the amount of pressure supplied to the fuel injectors is controlled by a pressure regulator that regulates pressure by bypassing excess fuel back to the fuel filter upstream of the filter element. A throttle control and throttle position sensor are disposed at the opposite end of the engine and exhaust control valves are provided outside of the valley of the "V" of the engine. The amount of air flow to the engine is sensed by a crankcase pressure sensor and an arrangement is incorporated for preventing damage to the crankcase pressure sensor by isolating it from negative pressure conditions which exist at times in the crankcase chamber.

Abstract: A motorcycle arrangement having a frame with an integral air inlet device that takes ram air and delivers it to the engine induction system. The frame air inlet device includes an enlarged portion that encircles components of the front wheel suspension so as to provide a large flow volume without interfering with the steering of the motorcycle. In one embodiment of the invention the air inlet device is formed by tubular members that pass the sides of the front fork and have a sealing relationship with the remainder of the frame assembly. The air inlet device also includes a forwardly extending inlet portion that is adapted to mount an instrument in a forward location and which, in one embodiment, has an interfitting relationship with the body.

Abstract: An exhaust timing control device for a two-cycle internal combustion engine, in which a valve member functioning as the upper edge of an exhaust port that opens into the inner circumference of a cylinder is disposed in the upper wall of an exhaust passage from said exhaust port. Abstract: A motorcycle powered by a two cycle internal combustion engine having an improved induction system that has a vertically extending intake pipe so as to permit a wide latitude of leaning of the motorcycle without interference from the induction system. The induction system serves the crankcase of the engine through a rotary plate type valve that has a helical connection to the engine output shaft so that the timing of the opening and closing of the intake port can be adjusted. A servo motor adjusts the helical connection under the CPU so that the timing change mechanism need not be powered directly by the engine.
