摘要： A fuel delivery system for an internal combustion engine. The fuel delivery system includes a carburetor housing having an air passage with a throttle valve disposed therein. A choke lever is movably mounted to the carburetor housing for restricting air flow into the air passage. A fuel injection device is provided for injecting fuel into the air passage before the engine is started. Movement of the choke lever to an engaged position simultaneously opens the throttle valve, restricts air flow into the air passage and activates the fuel injection device to inject a predetermined volume of fuel into the air passage. The air-flow restriction and the predetermined volume of fuel are adjusted to compensate for changes in ambient temperature.

摘要： A line head (10) for a rotary line trimmer uses a bail (16) to clasp a single length of cutting line (18). The head has a first and second side (12, 14). The first side (12) of the head (10) has a plurality of radial ridges extending radially from a central shaft engagement hub (20). The second side has several raised portions (44, 46, 48, 50) which define a first and second channel (17, 19). The bail (16) rotates between an open position to a closed position in the first channel. The second channel (19) is dimensioned to engage the cutting line. The bail (16) has a clasp means (16c) which removably engages a lip portion (42) when the bail is in the closed position. The bail (16) also has a central portion (16b) which overlays the second channel (19) when the bail is in the closed position.

摘要： A gasoline engine driven flexible line trimmer is provided with a modularly constructed power head section which significantly facilitates the original manufacturing assembly, and subsequent service disassembly, of the power head. In a clutch drive embodiment thereof, the power head has four readily separable modules--an engine module comprising a main engine shroud to which the engine is internally secured; a fan housing module; a starter module comprising a starter housing and a recoil starter mechanism retained therein; and a coupling module comprising a clutch housing carrying therein structure for operatively interconnecting the engine's clutch to the flexible drive shaft disposed within the trimmer shaft. In a direct drive version thereof, the power head has two separable modules--the engine module and a combined fan housing, starter and coupling module defined by a single housing within which the starter and coupling structure is carried. Pull rope installation in the starter mechanism is facilitated and made safer by pulley locking and retaining structure incorporated in the starter module, and improved air filter element sealing is provided by virtue of a specially designed air filter housing and choke plate assembly associated with the carburetor. Shaft vibration transmitted to the trimmer user through the supporting shoulder strap structure is significantly reduced by a specially designed resilient strap connector assembly securable to the trimmer shaft.

摘要： A power operated lawn edger includes a power unit comprising an internal combustion engine having a handle portion and being connected to one end of an elongated support boom. A cutter head including a vertically disposed rotating cutter blade is mounted at the other end of the support and comprises a right angle gear drive unit which is driven by the power unit through an elongated drive shaft mounted within the support. The cutter head includes a single adjustable gauge wheel for varying the depth of cut in normal operation of the edger. The gauge wheel is mounted on a support bracket which is pivotally connected to the cutter head. The gauge wheel support bracket is releasably retained in a selected position by a manually adjustable retaining member. A laterally projecting tubular support handle is mounted on the support by a bracket member which provides for moving the handle between a folded position alongside the power unit and a working position.

摘要： A "bump-feed" type line head (108) and replaceable spool (116) for a flexible line trimmer are specially adapted for removing and mounting the spool in a single manual movement to the line head to facilitate spool and line replacement. The line head includes a "U" shaped retention spring (118) mounted within a hub in the line head on with the spool is journalled. The spring includes knob-shaped sections (122) protruding through the hub, beneath the spool, for retaining the spool on the hub without interfering with a bump-feed indexing means. Pulling the spool from or pushing the spool onto the hub tends to deflect the knobs inwardly, allowing axially movement of the spool on the hub. The compression force of the spring is set to be sufficient to retain the spool on the hub during normal operation but not to withstand force manually applied in an axial direction to the reel. The spool includes an integrally formed reel (116) and an integrally formed button (130) connected in a single movement to the bottom of the reel using undercut surfaces (136)(138), forming a cavity having a radius sufficient to accommodate extension of the knobs beneath the spool.

摘要： A resetting ignition switch for a portable power tool whereby movement of a choke assembly from a first, normal position to a second, choking position simultaneously and automatically moves an ignition switch from a stop to a run position to permit starting of the engine. The ignition switch, which forms a portion of an ignition circuit for the power tool, includes an integral lever which extends across a body of the power tool and relatively beneath a shaft of the choke. The shaft includes a depending arm which engages and rotates the lever as the shaft is moved longitudinally from its normal position toward its choking position. Rotation of the lever causes the ignition switch to pivotally move from the stop to the run position. The ignition switch is movably without interference from the choke assembly when the choke assembly is in its normal position.

摘要： A fuel priming system for spark ignited internal combustion engines includes a manually actuated plunger pump for delivering liquid fuel from a tank to a reservoir chamber formed in part by a flexible diaphragm. A fuel injection passage leads from the reservoir chamber through a flow restricting orifice to an injection point formed in the engine intake air flow passage downstream of the carburetor venturi. The injection system provides for enriching the fuel-air mixture during cold starting while minimizing the chance of engine flooding. The finite fuel volume in the reservoir chamber also provides a sufficient quantity of fuel for automatic control of a rich fuel-air mixture during engine warm-up.

摘要： A portable power operated cultivator includes a power unit comprising an internal combustion engine having a handle portion and being connected to one end of an elongated boom. A right angle gear drive mechanism is mounted on the opposite end of the boom and is driveably interconnected with the power unit by an elongated drive shaft disposed within the boom. An output shaft extends from opposite sides of the gear drive unit and is adapted to mount respective rotary cultivator blades on the ends thereof. A second handle is adjustably mounted on the boom to provide for a balanced weight distribution of the cultivator unit. The spaced apart cultivator blades are identical and include a plurality of radially projecting ground engaging tines. Adjacent tines on each blade have tip portions which are bent in the opposite direction with respect to each other along a bend line which provides for a positive angle of incidence or entry of the tine into the earth being worked by the cultivator. The tines of one blade are angularly offset with respect to the tines of the other blade to enhance the digging action of the cultivator unit.
