摘要： A cutting tool, preferably in the form of a cutting insert of hard material, having a narrow land area or ledge along the cutting edge, forming a shallow recessed groove promoting the formation of a false cutting tip build-up during use of the cutting tool, the cutting tip build-up resulting from the transfer of material from the chip to the ledge surface. The cutting tool of the invention enhances and favors the formation of a cutting tip build-up by providing the shallow recessed groove with a width which is a function of the cut taken by the cutting tool in a workpiece such that the chip removed from the workpiece during a cutting operation bridges the recessed groove.

摘要： A variable speed drive mechanism in which power is transmitted from an input driving disc to an output driven disc through an intermediate member of spherical configuration. The driving and driven discs are supported with their axes of rotation at an angle and offset. The intermediate spherical member is held by gravity or other means in the trough defined between the two inclined discs. A cage member holds and linearly guides the intermediate member .[.and a wick provides lubrication for the intermediate member.].. The radial position of the spherical intermediate member along the faces of the discs determines the drive ratio between the input and output shafts of the mechanism.

摘要： A safety light for removable assembly to a bicycle handlebar or the like comprising a battery shell of conductive sheet metal construction having cantilevered inwardly projecting tabs at one end for resilient electrical contact with batteries captured therein and an opening at the opposing end for threadably receiving a lamp. The shell is contoured for sliding press-fit insertion into the open end of a tubular handlebar. A lens is mounted on the bulb of the lamp and has a head for endwise abutment with the handlebar end. A skirt integrally extends from the lens head surrounding the lamp and is closely received internally of the handlebar end for absorbing the shock of impacts on the handlebar end.

摘要： A system for detecting frequency and phase-angle synchronism between local and utility power sources comprising a pair of identical permanent magnet synchronous motors respectively connected to the power sources and having output shafts in opposed alignment. Fingers mounted on the motor shafts effect electrical interconnection between the motor housings, which are ungrounded, when the power signals are at identical frequency and in phase. An SCR is responsive to such interconnection to energize a relay and interconnect the power sources.

摘要： A chain lubricating device having a vessel with lubricating oil therein connected by a conduit to an applicator head with passages therein for discharging lubricating oil adjacent the links of the chain. The applicator head is retained on the chain for sliding movement relative thereto by a permanent magnet carried by the head. The magnet attacks the links of the chain and thus the head is held to the chain during the lubricating operation.
