    摘要: The invention concerns a cutting insert comprising an upper and a lower surface and one or more edge surfaces which connect the upper surface and the lower surface together, wherein provided at the transition of at least one edge surface at least to the upper surface is at least one cutting edge, wherein the upper surface adjoining the cutting edge is in the form of a chip surface and the edge surface adjoining the cutting edge is in the form of a tool flank. To provide a cutting insert in which the chip break range is enlarged and the risk of damage to the cutting insert and/or the tool and/or the workpiece by coiling chips is reduced it is provided according to the invention that at least one recess is provided in the tool flank at a spacing from the cutting edge.

    摘要: The disclosure relates to a cutting insert for a tool for machining a workpiece, comprising: two identical mutually opposite base surfaces, wherein at least a part of each base surface is orthogonal to a z-axis of the cutting insert, two identical mutually opposite main side surfaces which extend between the two base surfaces, wherein at least a part of each main side surface is oriented orthogonally to an x-axis of the cutting insert, and two identical mutually opposite secondary side surfaces which extend between the two base surfaces, wherein at least a part of each secondary side surface is oriented orthogonally to a y-axis of the cutting insert, wherein the x-, y- and z-axes are main axes of the cutting insert that are oriented orthogonally to one another, wherein between each one of the base surfaces and each one of the main side surfaces a main cutting edge is arranged, and wherein each main side surface has two diagonally opposite first segmental cutting edges, wherein each first segmental cutting edge adjoins a first end of the respective main cutting edge, wherein the main cutting edges and the first segmental cutting edges of each main side surface are each located in a cutting edge plane which extends orthogonally to the x-axis, wherein the first segmental cutting edges are each arranged on a first protrusion which is arranged on each of the secondary side surfaces and defines a first clearance angle.

    摘要: A cutting insert includes a top surface, a bottom surface and a plurality of peripheral side surfaces. The top and bottom surfaces and the side surfaces are joined to form rounded cutting corners. A plurality of cutting edges are formed at an intersection between the top surface and the plurality of side surfaces. A pair of asymmetric chip formers are proximate opposite rounded cutting corners. A distance between the opposite rounded cutting corners and the asymmetric chip formers varies in such a way that a ratio of a chip thickness and the distance is substantially constant as a function of a depth of cut.
