    摘要: A cutting insert has a cutting corner, having a bisector, located on a top surface of the cutting insert. A chip-control arrangement is located at the cutting corner. The chip-control arrangement includes a projection protruding from the top end face and that extends longitudinally in a direction transverse to, and to opposites sides of, the bisector.     摘要: A cutting insert with a serrated topography includes a top surface terminating in a circular cutting edge, a bottom surface and a frusto-conical sidewall interconnecting the top surface and the bottom surface, and a plurality of serrations on the top surface uniformly disposed around the circular cutting edge and extending radially inward from the cutting edge in such a way that a bisector through each serration passes through a central axis of the cutting insert. The plurality of serrations are positioned in a cutting tool in such a way so as to reduce regenerative chatter during a cutting operation. A method of reducing generative chatter by positioning the cutting inserts in a particular fashion in a cutting tool is also disclosed.

A plurality of chip dividers are spaced apart about a perimeter of the upper chip surface to divide the chips produced by the cutting edges, each chip divider including a leading chip dividing portion adjacent to the cutting edge and extending generally upwardly from the cutting edge, the leading chip dividing portion having an elongated, rounded face. Adjacent chip dividers define a pocket such that the pockets are configured for promoting curling of chips produced by the cutting edges.

    摘要: A milling tool for the milling of a slot in a workpiece includes a plurality of cutting inserts, which comprise an under side; an opposite upper side, which forms a chip surface and extends parallel to an extension plane; and an edge side between the upper side and the underside. A cutting edge, which extends between the edge side and the chip surface, includes a primary main cutting edge; a front cutting edge, which extends along an edge line; and a primary corner cutting edge, which extends between and connects the primary main cutting edge and the front cutting edge. The primary corner cutting edge has a convex shape and extends, with respect to a rear portion of the cutting insert, forward from the front cutting edge to a position on the other side of an imaginary line, which forms an extension of the edge line and extends in a tangential direction to a point on the primary corner cutting edge.
