Abstract:
An iontophoresis device (10) includes a membrane applied to said skin having a drug delivery aperture, a solvent delivery aperture and a vent aperture for applying a vacuum between the membrane and skin. A drug cartridge defines a drug containing chamber in communication with the drug delivery aperture and a drug air chamber separated by a first flexible membrane. A solvent cartridge defines a solvent containing chamber and a solvent air chamber separated by a second flexible membrane. An electrode is positioned between the membrane and the skin and surrounds the drug delivery aperture and the solvent delivery aperture. A drug cartridge may also include two separate chambers, one containing a lyophilized agent, the other containing a solvent. The solvent and the agent remain separate until mixed during operation of the device.
Abstract:
A tool configured to engage a work piece includes an elongated body portion and a generally U-shaped hook extending from a first end of the body portion. The generally U-shaped hook may have first and second leg portions and a bight portion connected between the leg portions. The tool is devoid of structure above the bight portion of the generally U-shaped hook, thus enabling a work piece to be received within the generally U-shaped configuration. The first leg portion includes a scraper edge terminating the generally U-shaped hook. The generally U-shaped hook also includes a pivot configured to translate a pulling of the body portion into a prying action against the work piece by the first leg portion.
Abstract:
A Fischer-Tropsch process including the steps of providing a reactor having a substrate element with a surface and a plurality of elongated micro-structures of catalyst material attached to the substrate surface The catalyst material includes at least one of cobalt, iron, or ruthenium and the micro-structures have a width of less than about 1 um and a length at least five times the width. A carbon compound and hydrogen are injected into the reactor such that at least a portion of the carbon compound and hydrogen contact the catalyst material. The carbon compound and hydrogen are reacted with the catalyst at a temperature between about 80° F. and about 200° F.

Each manifold fitting includes: (i) a tubular neck; (ii) a pair of spaced-apart tubular arms extending away from a first end of the neck; and (iii) a coupling connected to a second end of the neck; and (b) a plurality of curved tubes, each tube being coupled to one arm of each of two adjacent manifold fittings.
Abstract:
Described is a distributed copying technique that may be used in migrating large amounts of data from one or more source devices to one or more destination devices. The data source is divided into partitions. As Fibre Channel adapters (FAs) become available, each of the FAs may copy a partition of the data. In connection with specifying paths used for the distributed copying technique, a preferred path selection (source port-target port mapping) may be made by executing code in a controlling data storage system to perform discovery processing. The preferred path selection is used for the duration of the distributed copying unless the preferred path is unable to transmit data. A target port of the preferred path may be randomly selected from all accessible target ports, and/or in accordance with a specified portion of the target ports. Preferred paths may also be specified using an API (application programming interface).
Abstract:
A fluorine gas discharge laser electrode for a gas discharge laser having a laser gas containing fluorine is disclosed which may comprise a copper and copper alloy cathode body having an upper curved region containing the discharge footprint for the cathode comprising copper and a lower portion comprising a copper alloy, with the facing portion of the electrode if formed in a arcuate shape extending into straight line portions on either side of the arcuate portion, the straight line portions terminating in vertical straight sides, with the boundary between the copper including at least the arcuate portion, the electrode may comprise a bonded element machined from two pieces of material the first made of copper and the second made of a copper alloy bonded together before machining. The electrode may also comprise a first and a second elongated lopsided V-shaped groove formed along substantially all of the elongated electrode body forming a discharge receiving ridge between the first and second lopsided V-shaped grooves, with a differentially faster eroding material filling the first and second lopsided V-shaped grooves. also disclosed is an electrode system in which the one electrode, e.g., the cathode bows during operation and may comprise at least one of a first and second elongated gas discharge electrode being machined to form a crown to receive the gas discharge that compensates for the bowing of at least one of the gas discharge electrodes during operation of the fluorine gas discharge laser.
Abstract:
A present invention describes unique wind turbine assembly in a shape of closed hollow cylinder formed by two sets of three adjustable to positive and negative pitch horizontal blades supported instead of central shaft by three vertical cylindrical blades, which makes this turbine responsive to omni-directional wind. Proposed design concept provides with: Significant increase of turbine efficiency exceeding 60%, which after coupling this rotor with a generator of 60% efficiency leads to overall wind generator efficiency exceeding 40%. Low turbine inertia requiring moderate start up winds and reducing turbine vibrations. Noiseless turbine operation due to its rotation around vertical axis. Environmental friendliness as low operating speed does not generate strong turbulent air flow capable to challenge birds and bugs existence. No electronic control of blades angle of attack. Ease of manufacturing and maintaining together with their reduced cost. Conducted analysis of the proposed configuration of the wind turbine shows no necessity of additional top support for a personal use wind generator, while requires one for more powerful (community) wind turbines. Proposed additionally supporting turbine tetrahedron beam frame resolves this issue allowing increase of power of such wind generators.
Abstract:
An apparatus for teaching fine motor skills to a special needs student. The apparatus has a plurality of different personal life-skills training tools that more accurately replicate the skill encountered in real life. When the apparatus is arranged in its primary orientation and rests against the student's body, the life-skills training tools replicate the orientation of the objects relative to the orientation encountered by the student in real life. The apparatus includes a configurable platform having a plurality of walls. A plurality of hinges pivotally connect each wall with at least one other wall. The walls of the platform can be oriented and arranged in at least a first configuration forming a housing enclosing the training tools, and a second configuration wherein all of the walls are coplanar. The walls can also be oriented and arranged in at least a third configuration wherein none of the walls are coplanar.
