    摘要: A developing apparatus provided with a developer holding container (16a) which holds a mono-component developer and an electroconductive elastic development roller (16b ) which is provided inside the developer holding container in a manner enabling it to be driven to rotate. The electroconductive elastic development roller is disposed so that a portion of it is exposed from the developer holding container and contacts the image carrier. The mono-component developer is made to deposit on its rotating surface and form a mono-component developer layer. By the rotation of this, the developer is transferred to the region of contact with the image carrier. The developing apparatus includes an electroconductive leaf spring member (16c) for regulating the thickness of the mono-component developer layer of the electroconductive elastic development roller. This electroconductive leaf spring member is supported integrally at one end by a rotatable rigid support member (16d) and is made to elastically press against and contact the electroconductive elastic development roller for regulating the thickness of the mono-component developer layer of the electroconductive elastic development roller at the other end. The center of rotation of the rigid support member is substantially positioned on the tangent of the electroconductive leaf spring member and the electroconductive elastic development roller.

    摘要: An electrophotographic image forming apparatus includes an electrostatic latent image carrying body, an electrifying unit for electrifying the image carrying body, a light irradiating unit to form an electrostatic latent image in accordance to image information, a developing unit for discharging toner to the image carrying body to develop the latent image, a transfer unit for transferring the toner image to a recording sheet, and a cleaner for removing residual toner on the image carrying body. The toner removed from the image carrying body is recirculated to the developer receiving box. An additional toner image is formed on a position other than a first position where the electrostatic latent image is formed in accordance with the image information. The toner is removed by the cleaner without being transferred to the recording sheet and recirculated from the image carrying body to the developer receiving box.

    摘要: An image forming method and apparatus capable of implementing accurately and constantly an improved conversion of the amount of toner adhesion over the entire range of the amount of adhesion. The method includes the steps of computing a normalization value as a relative output ratio of the regular reflection output to a background regular reflection component from the surface extracted from the regular reflection light, in which the regular reflection output is obtained by detecting a plurality of gradation toner patterns with a sensor configured to simultaneously detect regular reflection light and diffuse reflection light; obtaining a diffuse reflection output conversion factor by either (1) subtracting the normalization value multiplied by the diffuse reflection output voltage generated by the surface from the diffuse reflection output voltage, or (2) subtracting the normalization value multiplied by a diffuse reflection output voltage increment, which is computed as the difference between the diffuse reflection output voltage and another diffuse reflection output voltage obtained when a light emitting device is turned off, from the diffuse reflection output voltage increment; and subjecting the relation between the diffuse reflection output conversion factor and the amount of adhesion to a polynomial approximation.

    摘要: A toner image transferring device has a roller formed of a conductive rubber foam material having a resistivity of more than 10.sup.7 .OMEGA.cm. In a toner image transferring process, a constant current is applied to the roller, whereby a charged toner image can be transferred to a sheet or paper at a desired toner transfer efficiency regardless of a size of the paper or sheet. To remove a toner pollution of the roller, a constant voltage having a polarity opposite to that of the charged toner is applied to the roller. The roller is constituted such that pore openings appear over a surface of the roller, whereby a residual part of a toner polluting the roller will not leave a stain on a rear surface of the sheet or paper.

    摘要: An apparatus for forming thin films on substrates includes a reactor vessel, and discharge and grounded electrodes opposably disposed within the reactor vessel. The discharge electrode has walls surrounding a hollow space having an outlet that is open to the grounded electrode. A starting gas is introduced into the reactor vessel through that hollow space. A radio frequency voltage is applied between the discharge and grounded electrodes to produce a discharge plasma zone therebetween. The potential of the discharge electrode is biased toward the negative side so that the discharge electrode behaves as a cathode to which a direct current voltage is applied, whereby a high density plasma is obtained in the hollow space of the discharge electrode.

    摘要: An electrophotographic multi-layered photosensitive member having a top layer of hydrogenated amorphous silicon carbide and the method for forming the top layer are provided. The hydrogenated amorphous silicon carbide has an atomic ratio of carbon to carbon plus silicon C/(Si+C) ranging from 0.17 to 0.47 and a ratio of the number of hydrogen atoms bonded to a silicon atom per silicon atom, to number of hydrogen atoms bonded to a carbon atom per carbon atom, {(Si--H)/Si}/{(C--H)/C}, ranging from 0.3 to 1.0. The top layer is formed on a photosensitive member of hydrogenated amorphous silicon by employing a glow discharge CVD method. The gaseous mixture composed of disilane (Si.sub.2 H.sub.6) and propane (C.sub.3 H.sub.8) mixed with a mol ratio expressed as C.sub.3 H.sub.8 /(Si.sub.2 H.sub.6 +C.sub.3 H.sub.8) ranging from 0.2 to 0.6 is used. Another gaseous mixture is also used with an improved result. The mixture comprises disilane (Si.sub.2 H.sub.6) gas, propane (C.sub.3 H.sub.8) gas, and hydrogen (H.sub.2) gas, the mixing mol ratio of the propane gas to the disilane gas expressed as C.sub.3 H.sub.8 /(Si.sub.2 H.sub.6 +C.sub.3 H.sub.8) ranging from 02 to 0.7, and the mixing mol ratio of the hydrogen gas to the remaining gas, H.sub.2 /(Si.sub.2 H.sub.6 +C.sub.3 H.sub.8), ranging from 1 to 10.
