摘要: The invention relates to a functional protective material, in particular having a protective function with respect to chemical poisons and/or biological toxins and/or chemical and/or biological hazardous materials, such as warfare agents, wherein the functional protective material has a multi-layer structure that comprises a planar, in particular textile, substrate material and a membrane that is associated with the substrate material, in particular connected to the substrate material, wherein the membrane in itself is permeable to air and water vapor and therefore is provided with a plurality of micropores preferably distributed substantially evenly over the membrane surface. According to the invention, an operating parameter of the membrane can be changed in such a way that the membrane assumes two different operating states, wherein in the first operating state the micropores of the membrane are open and in the second operating state, the micropores of the membrane are at least predominantly closed.

摘要: The invention relates to an adsorbing material (1) with a protective function against chemical toxins, especially chemical warfare agents, the adsorbing material (1) comprising a multilayered layer construction (2), the layer construction (2) comprising at least one in particular sheetlike carrier layer (3) and, associated to the carrier layer (3), a barrier layer (4) which prevents or at least retards the passage of chemical poisons, the barrier layer (4) comprising on the one hand at least one adsorbing layer (5) based on an adsorbent for chemical poisons and especially on activated carbon, and, on the other hand, at least one at least essentially water and air impervious but water vapor pervious membrane (6) which retards the passage of chemical poisons or is at least essentially impervious to chemical poisons. The adsorbing material (1) has a high wear comfort, in particular good breathability, while at the same time having excellent protection against chemical poisons.

摘要: A method of processing spent ion-exchange resins contaminated with suspended particles, inorganic residues and/or organic foreign matter so as to render the resin ineffective for continued use, by which method this waste material can be processed to produce useful activated carbon particles instead of simply being dumped in a landfill. In accordance with the invention, granular spent organic ion-exchange resin having an ash content of from 5 to 30% is first dried, then carbonized under a substantially inert atmosphere at a temperature of 300 to 900° C., the inert atmosphere containing 0.2 to 4 volume percent oxygen up to 400° C., and finally activated at a temperature of at least 700° C. under a substantially inert atmosphere containing 3 to 50 volume percent steam.
