Abstract:
A novel gap type surge absorber is disclosed. The surge absorber comprises a plurality of carbon thin films isolated from each others at short distances attached to the surface of an insulating body and one material selected from the group consisting of a metal, an alloy and a conductive adhesive as an electrode fixed to each of the plural carbon thin films. The surge absorber is an element based on a new mechanism that when a surge voltage reaches a prescribed value, a discharge is generated owing to emission of electrons between the carbon thin films and thereby a creeping discharge is initiated between the electrodes. The surge absorber has a small electrostatic capacity as well as a small discharge lag and is capable of cutting off a follow current.

Abstract:
In a high pressure discharge lamp device provided with an inductive stabilizer and a starting circuit consisting of a serial circuit of a resistor and a bimetal switch, a pulse waveform conversion circuit is arranged therein to reduce the pulse peak of the starting voltage and also broaden the pulse width of the starting voltage. The pulse waveform conversion circuit comprises a serial circuit of a resistor and a switching element, such as micro-gap element, which operates at a voltage lower than the starting voltage of the discharge lamp but higher than the secondary load-free voltage of the stabilizer.
Abstract:
A novel gap type surge absorber. The surge absorber comprises a plurality of conductive ceramic thin films formed on the surface of a molded insulating body and separated from each other by an extremely narrow gap, electrodes composed of a metallic material fixed to both ends of the plural conductive ceramic thin films and an inert gas sealed between the electrodes. The surge absorber is based on a two-stage discharge mechanism consisting of a discharge due to electrons emitted between the conductive ceramic thin films when a surge voltage is applied to the electrodes and a following creeping discharge generated between the electrodes. The surge absorber has a prolonged life and a good annealing characteristic as well as a very small discharge lag and a small electrostatic capacity and is excellent in cutting off a follow current.
Abstract:
A surge absorber utilizes a varistor electrically connected to a surge absorbing element. The varistor voltage and nonlinearity factor are chosen so that the varistor has a preselected voltage-current characteristic which prevents the varistor from breaking down and short circuiting and resulting in a thermal runaway.
Abstract:
The present invention is relative to a system enabling a through operation between a mileage system and an electronic money system. The mileage system is such a system in which mile points as distance points corresponding to the flight distance of an aircraft are accumulated and exchanged for boarding tickets and other services. An IC card (230) having stored a wallet number in it is used. The wallet number and a mileage number are managed in a correlated fashion. Responsively to a request from a user, reference is made to an electronic money value ledger (222), matched to the wallet number, while reference is also made to a mile point ledger (122), matched to the mileage number. A preset number of the mile points are changed over to an electronic money value and, depending on changed-over results, the electronic money value ledger is subjected to integration processing, while the mile point ledger is subjected to deduction processing.
Abstract:
A protection circuit for a semiconductor circuit for protecting it from a thunder surge and overcurrent or overvoltage. A surge absorbing element and a Zenor diode are in parallel connected to the semiconductor circuit. A first fuse are connected before between the electric source and the surge absorbing element. A second fuse and a resistor, which is in series connection, is arranged between the surge absorbing element and the Zenor diode.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a light-emitting diode lamp having a printed circuit board which is arranged inside a glass bulb having a base at an end thereof, via a stem and stays. A plurality of light-emitting diodes are mounted on the printed circuit board, a current being supplied to the light-emitting diodes through a series resistor. The series resistor has an annular shape and is fitted around the stem, so that a conventional lower-voltage LED lamp can be upgraded to a 100-V LED lamp.
