Abstract: According to various embodiments, a power converter circuit is disclosed. The power converter circuit includes a plurality of voltage splitting units (VSUs) coupled to a plurality of current splitting units (CSUs). The VSUs are connected to each other in series and the CSUs are connected to each other in parallel. The VSUs each have a fixed voltage conversion ratio and are operated at a lower frequency than the CSUs. The CSUs each have an adjustable voltage conversion ratio and are operated at a higher frequency than the VSUs.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is the detection of dangerous dielectric materials (explosives) and dangerous non-explosive and/or prohibited items. The detection is based on a broad bandwidth nonlinear radar system, driven by a highly stable optical frequency comb. The disclosed approach allows for the spatial resolution of the interrogated object in complex settings. Detection of dangerous materials and non-explosive chemical prohibited items is disclosed. The chemicals can be identified under clothing, within boxes, or other dielectric enclosures.

Abstract: Disclosed is a process for on- and off-site tagging of fracking sand and a composition of matter capable of being utilized in that process. The composition of matter includes a linker polymer conjugated to a rare earth particle. The method involves forming two mixtures, a first involving mixing a linker polymer conjugated to a rare earth particle into an aqueous blend of fracking sand, and a second involving an activated amine terminated polymer in an aqueous solution. The second mixture is then added to the first mixture, and covalent amide bonds are formed.

Abstract: An apparatus comprises a power electronic energy conversion system comprising a first energy storage device configured to store DC energy and a first voltage converter configured to convert a second voltage from a remote power supply into a first charging voltage configured to charge the first energy storage device. The apparatus also includes a first controller configured to control the first voltage converter to convert the second voltage into the first charging voltage and to provide the first charging voltage to the first energy storage device during a charging mode of operation and communicate with a second controller located remotely from the power electronic energy conversion system to cause a second charging voltage to be provided to the first energy storage device during the charging mode of operation to rapidly charge the first energy storage device.
