    Abstract: A mechanical touch fastener assembly (10, 101) including two longitudinally continuous tapes (16), (18) carrying engaged fastener patches (12, 12a), (14, 14a,14b, 14c). The first tape (16) carrying a series of first fastener patches (12, 12a) arranged in a row along a length of the tape (16) and carrying a field of touch fastening features. Each first patch longitudinally spaced from adjacent first patches (12, 12a). The second tape (18) carrying a series of second fastener patches (14, 14a, 14b, 14c) carrying a second field of touch fastening features. The first (16) and second (18) FIG. 1 tapes including a release liner (22), (24). The first (16) and second (18) tapes wound together to form a roll (60), with each of the first fastener patches (12, 12a) releasably engaged to a respective one of the second fastener patches (14, 14a, 14b, 14c) by inter-engagement of the first and second touch fastening features. As wound to form the roll (60), one patch of an engaged pair (25) has a leading edge (52, 52b, 52c) disposed behind a leading (50) edge of another patch of the engaged pair (25).

    Abstract: A molding apparatus defining a processing direction includes multiple molding modules spaced apart in a lateral direction perpendicular to the processing direction and a common reaction surface. Each molding module includes a frame and a mold roll that defines molding cavities. Each mold roll defines a respective pressure zone in cooperation with the reaction surface and each mold roll is movable with respect to the reaction surface by controlled operation of the frame. Molten resin is introduced into the pressure zones and forced into the molding cavities to form arrays of fastener elements extending from base layers of resin formed on the surfaces of the mold rolls. The fastener elements are withdrawn from the cavities while stripping the base layers from the peripheral surfaces.

    Abstract: A laminated touch fastener is made in a continuous process on a mold roll. Flowable resin is pressed against the mold roll in limited areas to form projections extending from resin layers that are laminated to a flexible substrate while carried on the mold roll. In one example a continuous channel about the mold roll is positioned such that the resin at least partially fills the channel as the layers are formed, thereby forming in the channel a raised portion in which the resin layer is of a greater thickness than at a point between the projections and the raised portion. In another example, grooves in the mold roll receive ribs of a pressure applicator during forming of the layers, the ribs blocking lateral flow of the resin to form a desired edge profile.

    Abstract: A pouch having a flap and a closure system featuring a face fastener attached to the front wall of the pouch body, and a mating flap fastener as part of the flap. One fastener of the closure system is a loop fastener component carrying a field of hook-engageable fibers. The other fastener of the closure system is a hook fastener component with an array of hooks. A significant majority of the hooks are oriented such that their heads point in a common lateral direction. The flap is elastically stretchable by pulling on its free edge, such that the flap maintains the loop fastener component securely engaged to the hook fastener component when under tension, and such that stretching the flap reduces engagement between the loop fastener component and the hook fastener component.
