摘要: A trocar assembly for eye surgery with a blade configured to accommodate multiple cannulas simultaneously. The blade may include one or more detents for retaining any cannulas in advance of cannula placement. Accommodating multiple cannulas in this manner facilitates new techniques for eye cannula placement in which trocar assembly disposal is minimized and efficiencies associated with tool change out for the surgery are enhanced.

摘要: The present disclosure provides an ophthalmic lens that is disposed to balance coma aberrations if the lens, when inserted in a patient's eye, is decentered or tilted with respect to an optical axis of the patient's eye, and maintain a substantially diffraction-limited image quality if the lens, when inserted in the patient's eye, is centered with respect to the optical axis of the patient's eye. The lens may include an optic having an anterior surface and an opposing posterior surface disposed about an optical axis of the lens. One of the surfaces (e.g., the anterior surface) may have a semi-aspheric surface profile, which includes an inner region having a substantially spherical surface profile and extending radially from the optical axis of the lens to a first boundary, and an outer region having an aspherical surface profile and extending radially at least beyond the first boundary to a second boundary.

摘要: A method of providing a male mold half for molding a toric contact lens at a predetermined target rotational orientation is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: —providing the male mold half at a predetermined rotational orientation, —picking the male mold half up with a gripper having a central axis, —rotating the gripper with the male mold half about the central axis of the gripper by a predetermined rotational angle (α) towards the predetermined target rotational orientation, and —releasing the rotated male mold half from the gripper. Prior to picking the male mold half up, the method comprises centering the grippe and the male mold half relative to each other such that the central axis of the gripper and a central axis of the male mold half coincide.

摘要: The invention provides a method for producing coated silicone hydrogel contact lenses in a cost-effective manner. The method comprises treating the molding surfaces of polypropylene lens molds (or other hydrophobic plastic molds) with a vacuum UV or a corona plasma to increase the surface energies of the molding surfaces of the lens molds, cast-molding a silicone hydrogel lens formulation containing a relatively small amount of at least one carboxyl-containing vinylic monomer in the treated lens molds, and heating resultant cast-molded silicone hydrogel contact lenses in an aqueous coating solution comprising a water-soluble and thermally crosslinkable polymeric material to form a coated silicone hydrogel contact lens comprising a bulk silicone hydrogel material and a hydrogel layer covalently attached onto the bulk silicone hydrogel material.

摘要: Certain embodiments described herein provide a surgical ear speculum comprising a tubular body having an anterior end, a posterior end, and a first length from the anterior end to the posterior end. The tubular body has an inner layer, an outer layer, and a middle layer between the inner layer and the outer layer. The inner layer, the outer layer, and the middle layer are peripherally disposed around a central cavity of the surgical ear speculum. The central cavity extends from the anterior end of the surgical ear speculum to the posterior end of the surgical ear speculum. The inner layer comprises a first membrane, and the outer layer comprises a second membrane. The middle layer comprises an expandable and contractible wire mesh disposed between the first membrane and the second membrane.

摘要: In certain embodiments, an ophthalmic surgical system for performing a surgical procedure on an eye comprises a laser device, a camera, and a computer. The laser device comprises a laser source and a scanner. The laser source generates a laser beam comprising pulses, and the scanner directs the pulses towards tissue of the eye according to a laser focal spot pattern. The camera captures surgical images of the eye. The computer instructs the laser device to direct the pulses towards the eye according to the laser focal spot pattern, accesses and monitor the surgical images of the eye, identifies an interfering object from the surgical images of the eye, and modifies the control of the pulses to compensate for the interfering object.

摘要: An intraocular lens (IOL) includes a lens body having an anterior surface and a posterior surface disposed about an optical axis, and a progressive phase step structure formed on a refractive surface profile of at least one of the anterior surface or the posterior surface, the at least one of the anterior surface or the posterior surface having an outer zone, an inner zone, and a transition zone continuously connecting the outer zone and the inner zone. The refractive surface profile in the outer zone provides a base power, and the refractive surface profile in the inner zone provides an add power. The progressive phase step structure includes a first annular ridge structure within the inner zone, and a second annular ridge structure extending radially from the transition zone to the outer zone.

摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed for measuring fluid pressure in an ophthalmic surgical system. An example system comprises a fluid flow path and a pressure sensor system for measuring pressure in the fluid flow path. The pressure sensor system comprises a conductive, movable diaphragm having a first side and a second side, the first side of the diaphragm facing the fluid flow path, and an eddy current position sensor positioned on the second side of the diaphragm without contacting the diaphragm. The eddy current position sensor comprises a position sensor coil activatable by high frequency alternating current and signal conditioning electronics capable of sensing inductance or impedance or resonant frequency variation in the position sensor coil as a gap between the diaphragm and the position sensor coil changes and of translating that variation into a displacement signal correlated to fluid pressure. A method of measuring fluid pressure may be performed using one or more of the systems described herein.
