Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to ophthalmic surgery, and more particularly, to methods and apparatuses for controlling intraocular pressure (IOP) and administering ocular tamponades during or after ophthalmic surgery. An exemplary apparatus generally includes a proximal segment having a first inner diameter (ID), a first proximal end, and a first distal end. The apparatus further includes a distal segment having a second ID smaller than the first ID, a second proximal end, and a second distal end configured to be disposed inside a hub or a cannula transition of a valved cannula comprising the hub, a shaft, and the cannula transition between the hub and the shaft.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide devices, systems, and methods for reducing intraocular pressure. For example, the disclosed devices, systems, and methods are useful for reducing intraocular pressure resulting from conditions, such as acute glaucoma, on a short-term basis until a definitive surgical procedure is performed. More particularly, valved trocar cannula systems for reducing intraocular pressure resulting from conditions, such as acute glaucoma, pending surgical intervention in an operating room are disclosed. In practice, a trocar assembly is used to place a valved cannula assembly in a patient's eye, such as in the anterior chamber or pars plana, to reduce high intraocular pressure. The valved cannula is then left in the patient's eye for a period of time to continuously allow aqueous humor or liquid vitreous humor to flow therethrough, until the patient may be surgically treated in an operating room.

Abstract: Intraocular lenses and related assemblies and intraocular attachment methods are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, an intraocular lens assembly comprises a helical-shaped coil fastener to affix an intraocular lens to an iris to correct for astigmatism, presbyopia, and/or myopia or hyperopia. The helical-shaped coil fastener comprises a head and a helical wire extending from a bottom surface of the head and comprising a pointed tip opposite the head. The helical-shaped coil fastener is configured to be affixed to the iris by rotatable penetration of the iris, and thus can be removed from the iris by reverse rotation of the helical-shaped coil fastener. The helical-shaped coil fastener has a low volume, large surface area, low cross-sectional area of penetration, and an oblique angle of penetration. Thus, the helical-shaped coil fastener is easy to apply, easy to remove, minimizes tissue damage, maximizes stability, and minimizes penetration force.

Abstract: A platform for introducing various treatment tools through a conduit in order to treat various ocular pathologies by attaching it to a human eyeball. The platform has an axis that defines opposing anterior and posterior axial directions. The platform includes a framework formed about the axis and the framework has anterior and posterior openings at respective anterior and posterior sides. The platform includes also a hollow conduit that extends through the framework while passing through the anterior and posterior openings.
