    摘要: A method for producing a mesophase-containing pitch from petroleum pitch or coal tar pitch is disclosed. According to this method volatile distillate fractions, which are harmful to mesophase formation and present originally in the raw material pitch or formed as by-product during heat treatment time are driven off by using a carrier gas at a temperature of 360.degree. to 450.degree. C. in order to shorten the overall heat treatment time and advance the mesophase formation smoothly by the increase of stirring effect.

    摘要: A process and a product of the process for preparing a pitch suitable for carbon artifact manufacture features a pitch having a weight content of between 80 and 100 percent toluene insolubles. The pitch is derived from a substantially deasphaltenated middle fraction of a feedstock, such as a coal distillate. The middle fraction is rich in 3, 4, 5 and 6 polycondensed aromatic rings. The pitch is characterized as being relatively free of impurities and ash.

    摘要: The filter cake resulting from the filtration of tar, pitch, coal extract or coal oil with the help of a filter aid, is dried by blowing an inert gas through it. Thereafter it is comminuted to a particle size of about 0.5 mm and these particles are heated in a fluidized bed at the rate of 1000.degree. C./min to a temperature of 500.degree.-1200.degree. C. There is obtained a size mix of swelled particles from which a fraction having a size of about 0.05-0.3 mm is segregated and recirculated to the filter as a filter aid. Particles having a size above or below the segregated fraction are thermally decomposed, as are gaseous and liquid products which are liberted during the thermal treatment in the fluidized bed.

    摘要: A process for preparing needle coal pitch coke by mixing coal tar and/or coal tar pitch with aromatic and aliphatic solvents under atmospheric pressure and at temperatures between 15.degree. C and 140.degree. C. The mixing ratio of the aromatic and aliphatic solvents and their quantities of addition to coal tar and/or coal tar pitch are adjusted so that insoluble substances precipitate in a zone selected from the group consisting of a slurry zone and a crystal zone. By distilling a supernatant solution obtained by separating the insoluble substances occurring in the slurry or crystal zone, hydrocarbons consisting substantially of aromatic compounds and free of the insoluble substances are obtained. The obtained hydrocarbons are processed into coke.

    摘要: An improved creosote wood preservative that has a light color and that forms a non-sticky crud deposit is prepared from a coal tar creosote. The coal tar creosote is distilled to an end temperature in the range of 395.degree. to 410.degree.C. at atmospheric pressure. This distillation produces a distillate and a pitch residue. The distillate is contacted with at least 1% by weight of one or more of the following caustic compounds: alkali metal alcoholates of alkali metal hydroxides to produce the improved creosote wood preservative. The pitch residue from distillation is recovered and it is utilized in the production of various pitch products or in combustion for its fuel value.
