A rocker arm or a pair of rocker arms could be used with each balancing mass, depending upon the arrangement of the cylinders.

The cylinder has a groove formed between the sleeve and the cylinder block and at least one lubricant outlet port having one end opened to the inside of the sleeve and the other end communicating with the groove. A lubricant inlet port is formed in a crankcase or an air-fuel intake passage of the carburetor connected to the crankcase, and is connected to the groove through a lubricant passage means including a check valve disposed therein.

    摘要: In a crankcase scavenged two-stroke internal combustion engine, a duct and at least one further passage extends between the crankcase chamber and the combustion chamber. There is a fuel/air mixture port leading into the duct and a pure air port leading into the duct or the crankcase chamber. The passage exits into the combustion chamber between the exit into that chamber from the duct and an exhaust port leading out of the combustion chamber. In operation fuel enters the combustion chamber in the air of the fuel/air stream entering the duct and air is additionally pushed into the combustion chamber by the downward movement of the piston through the passage and the duct. The fuel is separated from the exhaust port by a layer of air leading to better fuel consumption and higher oxidation combustion products.

    摘要: A two-cylinder, two-cycle engine for an outboard motor includes a pull-rope starter unit and an alternator driven, capacitor discharge ignition system. The alternator includes an annular permanent magnet secured within a flywheel skirt and includes a pair of circumferential opposite poles with diametrical spaced neutral areas. A stator assembly is mounted within the annular magnet and includes a semicircular core with a charging coil at each end. The coils are connected to charge a capacitor unit which is discharged through a control rectifier. A trigger coil is connected to the gate of the rectifier and is mounted in coplanar relation between the chargingcoils. The trigger coil is wound on a pole aligned with and spaced from the stator core with the coil and pole rotatably mounted by a housing having an integral cam for positioning a throttle lever. The housing rotates through a selected segment of the core. The outer periphery of the segment is non-circular to form an increasing air gap with advancing throttle spark position and thereby progressively increases the minimum RPM for starting of the engine, if the throttle and spark are advanced BTDC. This ensures that the piston moves past TDC during starting for all throttle positions.

    摘要: A rotating piston engine for use as an internal combustion engine, hydraulic motor or pump, air or gas compressor, or vacuum pump and the like. A stator supports a cylindrical rotor bored to receive a double-acting piston journalled on the crank of an eccentric mounted crankshaft. Means are provided to overcome the deadspot occurring when the crank pin is aligned with the rotor axis. Multi-piston forms of the invention are provided, and in one form means are provided to array plural pistons in a common plane. In another form the crank pin itself serves as the piston, and a modification of this provides split crank pins astraddle a second crank pin and with equal effective areas for even fluid flow. In another form the inlet and outlet channels to the cylinders are sized to equalize fluid pressure on the rotor. In another form the rotor is mounted on a cantilever portion of the stator. In another form a floating piston is provided with channels communicating fluid pressure to the crank pin for relieving bearing pressure. In another form, grooves are provided on either side of working ports with rotor passageways communicating these grooves with opposite ports for balancing forces on the rotor. In another form a multi-piston engine includes a plurality of cylinders mounted for radial displacement relative to a rotor for wear compensation, and with the combined action of centrifugal force and fluid pressure assuring a fluid tight seal against the inner surface of the stator. In another form inlet and outlet passageways are provided in the crankshaft with valving communication to the cylinders achieved by relative rotation between the crankshaft and rotor.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine having a rotor member journaled in a casing member for rotation about a first axis. A cylinder is provided on one of the members and has a piston received therein which oscilates between extended and retracted positions. The other of the members is provided with a cam surface having high and low extremities and there are means on the piston forcibly engaging the cam surface, the engaging means in the retracted and extended position engaging the high and low cam surface extremities respectively. The engaging means reacts against the cam surface along a force line laterally off-set from the axis of the rotor member and at generally right angles to a plane therethrough, whereby extension of the piston from its retracted to its extended position causes relative rotation of the rotor member with the engaging means moving over the cam surface from its high towards its low extremity and its point of engagement therewith at all rotational positions between the extremities of the cam surface being on the aforementioned force line.
