A kneading device includes: a preliminary kneading device that produces a preslurry by agitating a powder and a liquid introduced and transferring them while wetting the powder with the liquid; and a main kneading device that causes the powder to be uniformly dispersed in the preslurry supplied from the preliminary kneading device to produce a slurry. The main kneading device includes a gap defined by two conical surfaces that face each other with a predetermined distance therebetween and rotate relative to each other about their central axes. The slurry is produced by passing the preslurry through the gap. With the preliminary kneading device, the powder is dispersed in the liquid after conforming to the liquid, which suppress damage to the powder. The conditions of main kneading can be changed only by adjusting the gap, which facilitates the operation of changing the conditions of the main kneading.

The invention provides a method for producing a fluororubber composition that is able to give a crosslinked article that exhibits not only heat resistance, but also excellent mechanical properties at high temperatures. A method for producing a fluororubber composition includes: a step (1-1) of mixing a fluororubber (A) and a carbon black (B) by means of an internal mixer until the maximum temperature reaches 80 to 220° C. so as to obtain an intermediate composition; a step (1-2) of cooling the intermediate composition to a temperature of less than 50° C.; and a step (2-1) of mixing the cooled intermediate composition until the maximum temperature reaches not lower than 10° C. but lower than 80° C. so as to obtain a fluororubber composition.

The composition as provided has increased break tensile strength relative to a composition devoid of the polar thermoplastic polymer resin but otherwise is unchanged. The break tensile is measured at 23° Celsius and at an elongation rate of 50 millimeters per minute.

A dynamically vulcanized alloy containing an elastomer and a thermoplastic resin is prepared by a process wherein supercritical fluid is injected into the thermoplastic elastomeric material as the material is mixed in an extruder. The material is mixed under conditions such that the thermoplastic elastomeric material is dynamically vulcanized wherein the elastomer forms a discontinuous dispersed of small particles in a continuous phase of the thermoplastic resin. The DVA material may then be directly formed into film or sheets by the use of at least one set of rolls located adjacent to the extruder outlet.
