    摘要: A fluid dynamic bearing is provided. A structure in which a shaft member and an annular member fitted about the shaft member are rotatably supported by a bearing member and an annular member on the bearing member has a fifth gap for storing a lubricating fluid and supplying it to a second gap below the annular member on the shaft member and a third gap around its outer periphery through a fourth gap. The fourth and fifth gaps are tapered to produce a capillary drawing force toward the third and second gaps, so that the lubricating fluid may be supplied effectively from the fifth gap to the second and third gaps. This makes it possible to suppress any sudden formation of a reduced pressure upon exposure to impact or vibration to prevent the leakage of any lubricating fluid caused by the generation of bubbles, while making up for the loss of any lubricating fluid by vaporization.

    摘要: A spindle motor of the present invention is capable of keeping its ball (5a, 5b)'s pre-load constant, because a sleeve (6) is capable of being resiliently deformed due to its resiliency, and therefore capable of constantly keeping a pre-load applied to the balls (5a, 5b) from inner and inner ring raceways of inner and outer rings (3a, 4a, 3b, 4b) of ball bearings (3, 4). In this motor, a rotor hub (7) has an axial center bore (8). This bore (8) is provided with: a large-diameter bore portions in its opposite axial ends; and, a small-diameter bore portion (8a) axially interposed between the large-diameter bore portions. An inner diameter of the small-diameter bore portion (8a) is smaller than an outer diameter of the sleeve (6). The axial center bore (8) of the hub (7) is fitted to an outer peripheral surface of the sleeve (6) in an insertion manner through a heating shrinkage fit process, so that the sleeve (6) is subjected to a radially inwardly exerted pressure applied from outside to resiliently deform radially inwardly. As a result, a small-diameter portion (6a) is formed in the sleeve (6) to extend radially inwardly between the outer rings (3b, 4b).

    摘要: The object of the present invention is to provide a hard disk drive device having a bearing device of larger size and sufficient strength, improved impact resistance, high accuracy of rotation, and high reliability. In accordance with the present invention, a hard disk drive device comprises a motor including: a rotor or hub having around an outer periphery thereof a downwardly depending flange, wherein the hub is journalled rotatably on a base by way of a bearing; the hub provided with a magnet on the inner peripheral surface of the downwardly depending flange; a stator provided on the base so as to be opposed face to face with the magnet, the stator including coils; and a magnetic disk or disks having a central aperture to be fitted around the outer peripheral surface of flange provided around the hub of the motor, the magnetic disk adapted to be rotated by the motor; wherein the inner diameter of the downwardly depending flange of the hub of the motor is enlarged, so that the outer and inner diameters of the magnet confined within the downwardly depending flange, and the outer and inner diameters of the stator are also enlarged to allow the outer diameter of the bearing device to be enlarged.

    摘要: A spindle motor including a double row bearing apparatus 2 for supporting a rotor hub 9 rotatably on a base 1. A labyrinth seal mechanism is incorporated into the bearing apparatus. The double row bearing apparatus includes a two-stepped shaft 3 and a pair of rows of rotating bodies 5a and 5b interposed between the shaft and a sleeve outer race 4 surrounding the shaft. A pair of inner and outer sealing plates 13a and 13b are provided between the spacing defined between the sleeve outer race and the inner race fitted around the reduced diameter portion of the shaft to form a labyrinth seal. A pair of inner and outer sealing plates 14a and 14b are also provided between the sleeve outer race and the inner race fitted around the enlarged diameter shaft portion to form a labyrinth seal. Thus, there is no necessity for the manufacturer of the motor to incorporate the additional sealing mechanism into the motor. Rather, the only necessity is to assemble the motor by employing the bearing apparatus to which the labyrinth seal mechanism or mechanisms are already incorporated by the maker of the bearing.
