摘要: In some embodiments, an adaptive filter employs two adaptation modes, where during one adaptation mode the adaptive filter is updated only when the received training sample is a first binary value and during the other adaptation mode the adaptive filter is updated only when the received sample is a second binary value. Each adaptation mode provides a set of filter weights, and these two sets of filter weights are averaged to provide an adapted set of filter weights. The use of two adaptation mode allows for a clock boundary in which the digital portion of the filter operates at a lower clock rate than the analog portion. In other embodiments, a filter architecture is described for providing the algebraic signs of the received data samples, important for sign-sign least means square filtering algorithms. In other embodiments, a filter architecture is described in which efficient use is made of voltage-to-current converters so as to achieve a high throughput rate during filtering. Embodiments of the present invention have application to channel equalization.

摘要: A method for measuring the rotational speed of an EC motor having a primary part including a winding, and a secondary part having magnet segments offset with respect to one another in the circumferential direction and magnetized in alternatingly opposite directions, the magnet segments having tolerances regarding their positioning and/or their dimensions, the method including rotating the secondary part with respect to the primary part and detecting the position of the magnet segments with respect to the primary part. The position measuring signal is differentiated to form a rotational speed signal. At least one correction value is determined and saved to compensate the influence of at least one of the tolerances on the speed signal. The speed signal is corrected with the aid of the correction value.

摘要: An encoder and associated vector estimation method and system (1) for processing a sequence of input vectors (y0 to yT) each comprising a plurality of elements. The vector estimation system (1) has a digital filter (2) with a filter vector input (3) for receiving said sequence of input vectors (y0 to yT) and a predictor gain input (4) for controlling characteristics of the filter (2). The filter (2) is a Kalman filter and has both a current slowly evolving filter estimate output (6) and a previous slowly evolving filter estimate output (20). The current slowly evolving filter estimate output (6) provides a current filtered estimate value of a slowly evolving component of said sequence of input vectors (y0 to yT) and the previous slowly evolving filter estimate output (20) provides a previous filtered estimate value of the slowly evolving component of said sequence of input vectors (y0 to yT). There is also a parameter estimator (10) having an estimator vector input (19) for receiving said sequence of input vectors (y0 to yT) and a previous slowly evolving filter estimate input (13) coupled to the previous slowly evolving filter estimate output (20). The parameter estimator further includes a predictor gain output coupled (11) to the predictor gain input (4). In operation, when the vector estimation system (1) receives a current input vector that is one of the sequence of said input vectors (y0 to yT), the parameter estimator (10) provides a current predictor gain value at the predictor gain output (11) thereby modifying the current filtered estimate value. The current predictor gain value is dependent upon both the previous filtered estimate value and the current input vector.

摘要: A communication system having an echo canceller is disclosed. One embodiment of the echo canceller includes an adaptive filter used to provide an estimate of reflected echo which is removed from the send signal. The echo canceller may also include a near-end talker signal detector which may be used to prevent the adaptive filter from adapting when a near-end talker signal is present. The echo canceller may also include a nonlinear processor used to further reduce any residual echo and to preserve background noise. The echo canceller may also include a monitor and control unit which may be used to monitor the filter coefficients and gain of the adaptive filter to maintain stability of the echo canceller, estimate pure delay, detect a tone, and inject a training signal. The echo canceller may also include a nonadaptive filter used to reduce the length of the adaptive filter.

摘要: Disclosed is a digital filter with a combined architecture of a 4-tap real valued filter and a-tap complex valued filter, whereby the filter size is reduced and no output delay is occurred due to the filter operations. According to the present invention, the digital filter is operated either in real valued filter mode or complex valued filter mode according to a mode selection signal, a filter output is obtained within one clock according to an operation selection signal, and an operator performs operations twice within one symbol clock (i.e., a time period) unlike a related art filter in which an operator performs the operation only once for each symbol clock. Therefore, the present invention filter is capable of resolving the filter size problem by substantially reducing the number of multipliers and adders.

摘要: A method and apparatus for reducing the effects of noise on a system for measuring physiological parameters, such as, for example, a pulse oximeter. The method and apparatus of the invention take into account the physical limitations on various physiological parameters being monitored when weighting and averaging a series of measurements. Varying weights are assigned different measurements, measurements are rejected, and the averaging period is adjusted according to the reliability of the measurements. Similarly, calculated values derived from analyzing the measurements are also assigned varying weights and averaged over adjustable periods. More specifically, a general class of filters such as, for example, Kalman filters, is employed in processing the measurements and calculated values. The filters use mathematical models which describe how the physiological parameters change in time, and how these parameters relate to measurement in a noisy environment. The filters adaptively modify a set of averaging weights to optimally estimate the physiological parameters.
