    Abstract: Proposed are an apparatus for and a method of optimizing a parameter of a notch filter for use in an electric power steering apparatus to eliminate noise and vibration occurring in the electric power steering apparatus. The apparatus includes: a communication interface, and a processor operatively connected to the communication interface, wherein the processor receives through the communication interface a torque signal from a torque sensor detecting column torque resulting from rotation of a steering wheel, detects an optimal value for a notch depth of the notch filter that minimizes a function value of an objective function that is defined as a mean squared error between the torque signal and a preset target torque signal of the notch filter, and applies the optimal value to the notch filter.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for adapting gain elements in digital filter chains. In one example, a digital filter chain includes a first digital filter and a second digital filter having an input coupled to an output of the first digital filter. A common gain is applied to signal samples passing between the first digital filter and the second digital filter, the common gain corresponding to a product of an output gain associated with the first digital filter and an input gain associated with the second digital filter. In another example, a digital filter includes an adjustable input gain element and an adjustable output gain element. The adjustable input gain element is configured to apply a gain value to an input signal sample, the gain value comprising a resultant difference of a bitshift configured for the digital filter and a bitwidth extension value. The adjustable output gain element is configured to apply an opposite of the gain value to an output signal sample.

    Abstract: A filter processing device that includes an address control unit that specifies, based on the offset amount of a light source frequency and a subcarrier center point for each subcarrier, a write address and a read address for a plurality of items of data included in Fourier transform data based on an optical signal, and a storage unit in which a plurality of items of data are written to the write address specified by the address control unit and in which data is read out from the read address specified by the address control unit. The address control unit specifies the write address and the read address so that compensation for the offset amount and separation of the subcarrier are performed by the same storage unit.

    Abstract: A circuit portion for filtering digital signals comprises a first delay circuit portion, a second delay circuit portion, and a logic circuit portion. The first delay circuit portion introduces a time delay to rising edges of an input signal and outputs a first delayed digital signal. The second delay circuit portion introduces a time delay to falling edges of the input signal and outputs a second delayed digital signal. The logic circuit portion outputs a signal which retains a current state when the first and second delayed signals have different states, and a state that is dependent on a state of the first and second delayed signals when the first and second delayed 10 signals have the same state. The circuit portion effectively removes glitches—i.e. pulses of short duration—from the input signal.
