摘要: A simple, novel pulse power circuit is described, which improves the net coupling efficiency of a pulse power system used to drive a gas discharge laser, and minimizes current reversal and electrode erosion. The circuit, in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, incorporates a saturable inductor. Contrary to conventional saturable inductor configurations, in which the saturable inductor is either not saturated or is presaturated in a reverse direction, in the present circuit the saturable inductor is presaturated in the forward direction.The saturable inductor is inserted between the final stage capacitor of a pulse power circuit and a gas discharge load, where it allows forward current but effectively blocks reverse current through the load. Elimination of reverse discharge current reduces electrode erosion and improves discharge chamber life.

摘要: The invention relates to a multi-channel RF-excited gas laser device which has an elongate tubular dielectric housing 1. The housing has a common elongate ground electrode 2 therein and a plurality of laser channels 4 defined within and extending along the ground electrode 2 adjacent to an interior surface 3 of the dielectric housing. A laser gas is provided within the dielectric housing and a plurality of RF electrodes 7 are disposed adjacent to and extending along an external surface 8 of the dielectric housing 1. Each RF electrode 7 is disposed in registration with one of the laser channels 4.

摘要: A stack type semiconductor laser device, which has a large overlapped area of beam patterns made by laser beams irradiated from a plurality of semiconductor laser elements, is disclosed. A first semiconductor laser element is formed on an N-type semiconductor substrate and is bonded to a surface of a pedestal at the side of an N-type electrode thereof through a solder layer. On the other hand, a second semiconductor laser element is differently formed on a P-type semiconductor substrate, and an N-type electrode thereof is bonded to a P-type electrode of the first semiconductor laser element through a solder layer in such a way that the laser beam irradiation planes of both semiconductor laser elements face in the same direction.

摘要: A method and apparatus for generating uniform, transverse-electrical discharges in gaseous media between two principal discharge electrodes is described. At least one of the electrodes is segmented and a differential voltage is generated between the segments. Voltage from a single high-voltage source is applied between the principal discharge electrodes and between the segments of the segmented electrode through a single switch. A differential voltage suitable for producing a discharge between the segments is generated therebetween from the high-voltage source by using a differential impedance circuit. Once sufficient ionization is generated, a discharge between the principal electrodes occurs. The invention has been demonstrated to be useful for providing electrical excitation for a carbon dioxide laser oscillator which may be operated in either a flowing gas or sealed mode.

摘要: A laser oscillator system has prolonged service lives of optical components thereof by preventing dust and the like from being produced from heat exchanger, the heat exchanger being reduced in size, and further, generates a higher laser beam output. The laser oscillator system uses a plate type heat exchanger as a cooling unit. The plate type heat exchanger can be made free of dust and the like, during a process of manufacturing it. Hence, it is possible to prevent inclusion of dust and the like from the heat exchanger into a laser oscillator and, thereby, markedly prolong the service lives of optical component parts. Further, the plate type heat exchanger is reduced in size and weight, which makes it possible to simplify a laser gas-circulating system. Further, influence of presence thereof, such as vibrations transmitted therefrom and the like, adversely affecting an electric discharge tube and the like, is reduced. Hence, it is possible to provide the plate type heat exchanger close to a laser gas outlet of the electric discharge tube and the like, which in turn makes it possible to increase a flow rate of laser gas by virtue of reduced frictional resistance the laser gas encounters, leading to an increased laser beam output.

摘要: An ion laser apparatus capable of simultaneous oscillation at a plurality of wavelengths is provided, which makes it possible to stabilize not only the overall output beam but also each component of the output beam. A laser tube having a pair of optical mirrors at each end is driven by a first electric current, thereby causing a specific electric discharge in the tube. A magnetic-field generator is driven by a second electric current, thereby generating a specific magnetic field in the tube to focus or collect a plasma generated in the tube. An optical beam splitter splits a reference beam generated from the output laser beam into first and second feedback beams. First and second detectors detect the feedback beams to thereby generate first and second electric signals, respectively. The electric discharge in the tube is controlled by the use of the first electric signal, and the magnetic field in the tube is controlled by the use of the second electric signal. The fact that the magnetic field has an optimum value which varies dependent upon the wavelength value of the second feedback beam is used for stabilizing each component of the output beam.

摘要: A slab laser includes cooled, mutually parallel electrodes having a given thickness. The electrodes have flat surfaces facing each other and defining a discharge chamber therebetween for containing a gas to be pumped, and the electrodes have flat surfaces facing away from the discharge chamber. Each of the electrodes has a plurality of sections being spatially separated from one another over at least a portion of the given thickness of the respective electrode. The electrodes are supported in such a way that movements of the flat surfaces facing away from the discharge chamber being caused by thermal expansion are opposed by only a negligible mechanical resistance.

摘要: A transverse type gas laser oscillator includes a receptacle for containing a gas as a laser medium, a pair of electrodes disposed to be parallel to each other on opposite sides of the receptacle so that an electric field is established for generation of AC discharge when a high-frequency voltage is applied to them, and a pair of permanent magnets disposed so as to form a magnetic field intersecting a direction of the electric field established between the electrodes, or a pair of coils excited by a DC voltage. Consequently, ionization of the gas excited by the electric field is increased by the magnetic field.

摘要: A preionization assembly is adapted for use with a laser including a laser vessel, a high voltage electrode and a ground electrode defining a discharge region extending longitudinally within the vessel. A plurality of pin assemblies are arranged in at least one line which extends longitudinally through the vessel along the discharge region. These pin assemblies are generally equally spaced along the line, each including an anode pin and a cathode pin oriented relative to each other so that a spark passing therebetween arcs in a direction which is longitudinal of the vessel along the discharge region. The pin assemblies may be oriented in two parallel lines disposed in equally spaced relationship to the discharge region.
