    摘要: A catalytic tin carboxylate adduct, which is useful as a catalyst in epoxy-acid coating compositions, is the reaction product of (A) a mono-, di-, or poly-carboxylic acid functional compound and (B) an organotin compound containing one to three aryl groups and at least one halogen or hydroxyl group attached to the tin atom. There is also provided an epoxy-acid coating composition, which incorporates this catalytic tin carboxylate adduct. The epoxy-acid coating composition is advantageous as an automotive topcoat, particularly as a clear coat composition because it exhibits good appearance, durability, stability and generates no, or extremely low levels of benzene during the curing process.

    摘要: Composite rocket propellants, in which the base component is a functionally terminated rubber, and case-bonded rocket motors containing same, are provided, wherein cross-link density at, and adjacent at least a portion of the initial propellant burning surface is lower than that throughout the remainder of the propellant to provide greater strain capability at the initial burning surface together with greater propellant strength for higher mass ratio and improved case bonding than possible utilizing a single "compromise" propellant cross-link density of the prior art.Method is provided which involves initially curing the entire propellant mass, alone or as a rocket motor component, to the initial low cross-link density and thereafter applying to said initial burning surface, an interferent capable of interfering with the cure process to substantially stop same, and then again subjecting the entire propellant to curing conditions to cure the remaining curable propellant portion to the higher cross-link density.

    摘要: This patent describes a method of catalyzing the reaction of organic polybasic acid anhydrides with at least one oxirane which comprises carrying out the reacton in the presence of an effective catalytic amount of a synergistic catalyst mixture comprising an active chromium III tricarboxylate salt haing unoccupied coordination sites and any compound capable of polarizing the carboxlyic acid anhydride to yield a reactive carboxylic acid moiety. Preferred compounds as the cocatalyst member include one or more members selected from the group consisting of the alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, and alkaryl tri-substituted compounds of the following types: quaternary ammonium hydroxides; quarternary phosphonium halides; arsines; amine oxides; sulfoxides; tertiary aminophenols; trihydrocarbon phosphine oxides; trihydrocarbon phosphines; tertiary amines, and combinations thereof, each alone or in combination with a phenol or other reactive promoter such as, carboxylic acids and alcohols; and compounds containing two or more co-catalytic functional groups in the same molecule such as alkyl phosphoramides, alone or in combination with any and all of (1) any of the members, (2) phenols or other reactive promoters.
