    摘要: A medical device for performing medical procedures inside a lumen (such as the GI tract) of a patient is provided comprising a capsule, a cable, and a propulsion means. The cable can have one end anchored to the patient, and can extend from this anchored portion to the capsule. The cable can include a loop forward (distal) of the capsule in the GI tract. The propulsion means is operably connected to the cable to vary the length of cable between the anchored end and the capsule, so that the capsule is repositioned inside the GI tract of the patient.

    摘要: An ingestible device for delivering a substance to a chosen location in the GI tract of a mammal includes a receiver of electromagnetic radiation for powering an openable part of the device to an opened position for dispensing of the substance. The receiver includes a coiled wire that couples the energy field, the wire having an air or ferrite core. In a further embodiment the invention includes an apparatus for generating the electromagnetic radiation, the apparatus including one or more pairs of field coils supported in a housing. The device optionally includes a latch defined by a heating resistor and a fusible restraint. The device may also include a flexible member that may serve one or both the functions of activating a transmitter circuit to indicate dispensing of the substance; and restraining of a piston used for expelling the substance.

    摘要: A self propelling catheter introducer system for exploring a body cavity is disclosed which includes a flexible tubular catheter, a propulsion section and a steering section located near the end of the catheter that is introduced in a body cavity. The propulsion section includes a flexible everting tube designed to push the catheter from inside the body cavity. The catheter can thus be made very flexible in bending, and a larger diameter catheter can be used without discomfort to the patient.
