Abstract:
A virtual channel table for broadcasting protocol and a method for broadcasting by using the virtual channel table includes identification information identifying and permitting discrimination of active and inactive channels contained in the virtual channel table. At a receiver, the virtual channel table transmitted from the transmitting side is parsed, thereby determining whether the current received channel is an active or inactive channel.
Abstract:
Several million television receive antennas installed on roof tops in the US and around the world. A method is disclosed that uses each of the millions of television receive antennas as transmitters to provide high speed wireless mobile and broadband infrastructure to send and receive internet, data, audio, video, at user locations and communication between devices and sensors securely. This is the first converged broadcast and broadband interactive wireless infrastructure utilizing the television as an interface for applications such as financial transactions, home-to-home interconnection, environmental, energy management (smart meters), social networking, streaming, gaming, and security management. A personal server connects to a television receiver and antenna which connects among them wirelessly and connect to a broadcasting site server and an electric-substation server. The invention creates wireless cloud eliminating the need of a personal computer. The method overcomes the problem of interference whist preserving latency, synchronization, and time accuracy.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for transmitting/receiving control information in a system in which multiple frequencies are used to carry multiple services by means of transmission frames, which are constituted of time resources and/or time-frequency resources. Control information regarding frame configuration information is not transmitted over a separate control channel but over a data channel. The service traffic for each non-primary service traffic may include control information for a primary service. Thus, even when a receiver changes the current service to a target service, control information necessary to detect the location of the target service in a frame and demodulate the target service can be acquired, and thus a service change can be made without reading a separate control channel.
Abstract:
Transmitter apparatus to broadcast coded orthogonal frequency-division multiplexed (COFDM) radio-frequency carriers conveying low-density parity-check (LPDC) coding transmits the same coded DTV signals twice some time apart. The coded DTV signals of initial transmissions and of final transmissions are mapped to quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) of the COFDM carriers according to first and second patterns, respectively. Bits that map to lattice points in the first mapping pattern more likely to experience error are mapped to lattice points in the second mapping pattern less likely to experience error. Bits that map to lattice points in the second mapping pattern more likely to experience error are mapped to lattice points in the first mapping pattern less likely to experience error. Receiver apparatus combines the earlier and later transmissions of twice-transmitted COFDM signals as part of iterative procedures for de-mapping QAM and decoding the LDPC coding of the DTV signals.
Abstract:
A broadcast transmitter, a broadcast receiver, and a 3D video data processing method are disclosed. A 3D video data processing method includes processing, by a video formatter, 3D video data, encoding, by an encoder, 3D video data, generating, by a system information processor, system information having 3D video composition information including information about the processing and encoding of 3D video data, multiplexing, by a multiplexer, the system information and the 3D video data, and transmitting, by a transmitter, a broadcast signal. In a 3D video data processing method, a receiver receives a broadcast signal including 3D video data and system information, a system information processor obtains 3D video composition information by parsing the system information, a decoder decodes the 3D video data according to the 3D video composition information, and an output formatter formats and outputs the decoded 3D video data according to the 3D video composition information.

Abstract:
The present technique relates to a reception apparatus, method, and program which make it possible to promptly perform reception and demodulation of an intended profile at a low cost and with superior noise resistance in a broadcast signal of DVB-T2 in which various profiles are mixed. An information extraction unit configured to extract, in a broadcast signal which meets a DVB-T2 standard and in which a plurality of profiles is mixed, information included in a frame corresponding to each of the plurality of profiles, and an operation control unit configured to control an operation of the information extraction unit in such a manner that information which is included in a frame of a first profile and which is necessary for processing related to frame synchronization and information which is included in a frame of a second profile and which is necessary for the processing related to the frame synchronization are constantly acquired among the plurality of profiles are included, the first profile being a profile for outputting data on which error-correction decoding is performed, and the second profile being a profile for not outputting data on which the error-correction decoding is performed.
Abstract:
In order to implement both a physical later pipe (PLP) structure and a plurality of receiver classes, a transmitting apparatus includes: a signaling information generation unit which generates signaling information including a transmission parameter for each of PLPs; a PLP processing group which performs processing based on the transmission parameter for each of the PLPs; and a transmitting unit which transmits data including the generated signaling information and PLP data for each of the PLPs. The PLP data is received by a receiving apparatus that is indicated by a flag of the PLP and is not received by another receiving apparatus, the receiving apparatuses being included in a plurality of receiving apparatuses classified under a plurality of states. The generated signaling information includes, as the transmission parameter for each of the PLPs, the flag of the PLP.
