Abstract: A system (1000) is disclosed including a resource allocation optimization (RAO) platform (1002) for optimizing the allocation of resources in network (1004) for delivery of assets to user equipment devices (UEDs) (1012). The RAO platform (1002) determines probabilities that certain asset delivery opportunities (ADOs) will occur within a selected time window and uses these probabilities together with information concerning values of asset delivery to determine an optimal use of asset deliveries. In this regard, the RAO platform (1004) received historical data from repository (1014) that facilitates calculation of probabilities that ADOs will occur. Such information may be compiled based on asset delivery records for similar network environments in the recent past or over time.

A method may include generating first control information for configuring an audiovisual device to decode a multimedia stream, generating first data that indicates a structure of the first control information, and transmitting the first data and the first control information. The first control information may be generated according to a first protocol version. Second data and second control information may be similarly generated and transmitted according to a second protocol version. Disclosed techniques may facilitate receiving devices to determine whether they support received wireless transmissions and decode the transmissions based on the control information.

Abstract: A radio receiver includes a tuner and processing circuitry, which in turn includes watermark detection circuitry and local playout control circuitry. The tuner receives an over-the-air radio broadcast on a tuned frequency. The over-the-air radio broadcast includes broadcast content. The processing circuitry, which is coupled to the tuner, is used to implement the watermark detection circuitry and local playout control circuitry. The watermark detection circuitry detects an actionable watermark included in the broadcast content, and transmits a watermark-detected signal to the local playout control circuitry in response to detecting the actionable watermark. In response to receiving the watermark-detected signal, the local playout control circuitry initiates retrieval of replacement content.

Abstract: A broadcast reception device receives a digital broadcast service capable of executing an application cooperating with a broadcast program, and is provided with: a broadcast reception unit which receives broadcast waves of the digital broadcast service; a separation unit which separates video information relating to the broadcast program and application-related information from the received broadcast waves; a broadcast video decoding unit which decodes the video information relating to the broadcast program; an application acquisition unit which acquires an application on the basis of location information included in the application-related information; an application execution unit which executes the acquired application and acquires additional data from a server device; a video conversion unit which converts broadcast program video decoded by the broadcast decoding unit into high-quality video having a higher quality than the video using the acquired additional data; and a display unit which is able to display the high-quality video.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed toward locally generating a replacement spot beam signal to be combined with other orbital television signals, where the replacement spot beam signal is generated from locally received over-the-air television signals. Over-the-air television signals are received at a user's premises via an over-the-air antenna and orbital signals are received at the user's premises via a satellite antenna. The orbital signals include a spot beam signal and other orbital signals. The spot beam signal is specifically generated for the geographical area associated with the over-the-air television signals. One or more available local channels are extracted from the over-the-air television signals and are converted into the replacement spot beam signal that is a satellite-compatible signal. The replacement spot beam, instead of the original spot beam signal, is then combined with the other orbital signals and provided to a content receiver.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, accessing a terrestrial content service that delivers media content to premises of a subscriber for presentation to media processing equipment of the subscriber. An interruption in the terrestrial content service is determined that interrupts the delivery of the media content item to the media processing equipment. An alternative media content item is identified based on the media content item, wherein the alternative media content item is available by way of a direct broadcast satellite service not subscribed to by the subscriber. The direct broadcast satellite service is provisioned to the media processing equipment responsive to the determining of the interruption in the terrestrial content service. Other embodiments are disclosed.
