Abstract: An engine exhaust filter system comprises a housing and a pleated filter element. The housing includes an inlet and an outlet and defines an exhaust flow path between the inlet and the outlet. The pleated filter element is disposed in the exhaust gas flow path between the inlet and the outlet. The pleated filter element includes a filter medium and at least a first perforated support member, the filter medium being disposed adjacent to the perforated filter support member. The filter medium includes a portion extending beyond the perforated support member comprising a seal that prevents or reduces bypass of unfiltered exhaust gas around the pleated filter element.

Abstract: A filter assembly for removing particulates from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine, comprising a housing having an inlet pipe which may be coupled to the engine and an outlet pipe which may be open to the atmosphere, and a filter arrangement disposed within the housing 22. An exhaust gas flow path is defined from the inlet pipe through the filter arrangement and out the outlet pipe. Each of the components of the filter arrangement are resistant to high temperatures, so that the filter arrangement may be regenerated by heat.

Abstract: The process for manufacturing an open pore foam body with three dimensional ceramic network, in particular as a filter for the treatment of hot gases or as a catalyst substrate, has as its starting material a block of open pore plastic foam. This is impregnated at least once with a ceramic suspension, freed of excess ceramic suspension and heated to a temperature below the melting point of the plastic, then finally burnt off at a temperature at which the ceramic sinters together. The plastic foam block of the prescribed outer dimensions is cooled down and machined to produce a Z-flow filter with high precision longitudinal channels.

Abstract: A plate-like filter element includes a plate-like body made of a gas-permeable porous material having a pair of opposing end faces, a plurality of through holes formed in the plate-like body from one of the end faces to the other, wherein the plurality of through holes have inner wall surfaces which extend out toward both side surfaces of the plate-like body, the side surfaces being closer to the through holes. A filter unit is formed by a plurality of the plate-like filter elements stacked up in parallel to each other so that the end faces of the stacked filter elements are aligned, and passages separated from the through holes by the porous walls of plate-like bodies are formed between the adjacent filter elements. A filter device includes a metallic casing with an inlet for a dust-containing gas, an outlet for clean gas and an outlet for dust, which firmly support the filter unit therein.

Abstract: A diesel engine exhaust particulate filter-incinerator comprising an enclosed filter panel having particulate deposition surfaces bordered by electrodes of a high voltage power supply. Periodic incineration is accomplished by the collection on the surfaces of particulates in amounts sufficient to conduct sufficient electric current along paths through the particulates to heat them to incineration temperature. Ignition and burn off of particulates may be automatically accomplished by maintaining a suitable voltage across the electrodes at the edges of the collection surfaces to initiate arc-like current flow before the collected particulates reach a level that would plug the filter. Specific embodiments of exemplary filter constructions are disclosed.

Abstract: Embodiments of emission reduction system including various embodiments of an emission filters for a power plant including a gas turbine are disclosed. The system includes: an emission filter; and a retraction system operably coupled to an exhaust passage of the gas turbine. The exhaust passage defines an exhaust path of exhaust from the gas turbine. The retraction system selectively moves the emission filter between a first location within the exhaust path and a second location out of the exhaust path. In a combined cycle power plant, the first location is upstream of a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG). The systems and filters described allow for temporary positioning of emission filter(s) just downstream of a gas turbine exhaust outlet, or upstream of an HRSG, where provided, for emission reduction at low loads or startup conditions, and removal of the emission filter(s) once operations move to higher loads.
