Abstract:
A battery grid pasting system includes a battery grid pasting machine, a sensing station, and a controller. The battery grid pasting machine includes a conveying apparatus confronting a hopper's dispensing end across a space, and includes a motor actuatable to cause variance of the space and hence variance of the amount of battery paste received on carried battery grids through the space. The sensing station senses a value of a property of a pasted battery grid. And the controller receives the sensed value of the property and controls actuation of the motor based in part or more on the received value.
Abstract:
An adhesive dispensing system and method of dispensing liquid material are disclosed. The adhesive dispensing system includes an adhesive dispensing module receiving hot melt adhesive through the inlet at a low pressure and rapidly developing high pressure at an outlet to thereby jet the hot melt adhesive therefrom. The system also includes a pressure container containing a supply of hot melt adhesive and configured to melt or maintain a heated temperature of the hot melt adhesive. A low pressure liquid passageway communicates between the adhesive dispensing module and the pressure container. The system also includes a pressurized air source in fluid communication with the adhesive dispensing module to operate the adhesive dispensing module by moving a piston to generate high pressure at the outlet of a nozzle for jetting hot melt adhesive as a discrete volume toward a substrate.
Abstract:
A method for applying a fast curing epoxy traffic marking composition is provided in which curing agents are coated on a carrier such as glass beads or porous silica. These carriers are dropped onto the epoxy coating and promote rapid curing of the top layer of the epoxy coating while the bottom layer is given additional time to adhere to the roadway surface. This enables the application contractor to open a marked roadway in a quicker manner with less motorist disruption.
Abstract:
In one aspect, an adhesive dispensing system 30 includes a dispensing module 32 having an inlet and an outlet, a supply 35 of hot melt adhesive maintained at low pressure, and a low pressure liquid passageway 44 communicating between the supply 35 and the inlet of the dispensing module 32. Liquid material is received through the inlet at a low pressure, and the dispensing module 32 rapidly develops high pressure at the outlet 78 to jet the liquid material from the outlet 78. In another aspect, an apparatus for jetting liquid material includes a dispenser body 38 having a liquid chamber 40. A piston 54 is movably disposed within the liquid chamber 40, from a position wherein a piston tip 58 is spaced from a complimentary shaped recess 76, to a position wherein the piston tip 58 effectively seals off the recess 76, then to a position wherein the piston tip 58 is received within the recess 76 to displace a discrete volume of liquid material from the recess 76.

Abstract:
An apparatus for conveying viscous material out of a barrel-like container having a container bottom and a container wall that extends upward from the container bottom has a follower plate for closing off the container, which plate is movable in the direction toward the container bottom, lying against the inner surface of the container wall, which surface faces the container interior, and which plate has a dome that extends upward from an underside intended to lie on the viscous material, which dome opens, in the center, into a material exit opening. The apparatus has a pump for conveying the viscous material through the material exit opening. At least one displacement body projects into the dome through the material exit opening and is connected with the pump for displacement of the material situated in the dome and/or air situated in the dome, and at least one closeable venting opening vents the dome.
Abstract:
Activator applying device including a receiving pan that stores an activator for activation of a transfer film, and a spreading roller that rotates while being dipped in the activator in the receiving pan and applies the activator that has adhered to the surface thereof in a dip section of the activator applying device to the transfer pattern in a different section of the activator applying device. The activator is fed to the receiving pan in an amount greater than the amount of the activator applied to the transfer pattern, and an excessive activator is discharged through a discharge port of the receiving pan. The activator is applied to the transfer pattern with the discharge port being located on the side where the activator is drawn up from the dip section, and the discharge port being located at the position of a streak caused by uneven dispersion of the additive pigment.
Abstract:
A screed box includes a screed bucket, a screed plate mount attached to the screed bucket, a screed plate slidably connected to the screed plate mount and a screed bar attached to a bottom of the screed bucket. The screed plate mount includes a sealing edge. The screed plate includes at least one screed flange. The screed bar includes a body and a sealing lip including at least one projection. The screed bar is slidable between an open position where the sealing lip engages the sealing edge and a closed position where the sealing lip is disengaged from the sealing edge, and the at least one projection engages the sealing edge when the screed bar is in the open position and when the screed bar is in a closed position.
Abstract:
A dispenser system employs a packaging module for use with moisture sensitive materials. The packaging module comprises an outer carton and an inner bladder, which is substantially impermeable to moisture and is filled with one part of an adhesive. The carton is loaded on a mobile cart and the one part adhesive is supplied to a pump/mixer without exposure to moisture in the atmosphere. The packaging and dispensing system can be used in conjunction with mechanized adhesive application equipment for the construction trades.
