Abstract:
An electrospray apparatus and a method of operating the electrospray apparatus can include an array of emitters that can emit a fog of charged droplets, wherein the charged droplets can be produced in a carrier gas by the array of emitters and directed into a development zone of a charge image. Each emitter among the array of emitters can be implemented as a cone-shaped emitter. The array of emitters can be implemented as a cone jet electrospray micro-array that can produce a high liquid concentration of the charged droplets in the carrier gas. The charged droplets can comprise charged fountain solution droplets, and the charge image can be a fountain solution image that can be transferrable to a blanket for control and subsequent ink transfer to a receiving medium.
Abstract:
An ink-based digital printing system for variable data lithographic printing includes an imaging member having a surface configured to absorb dampening fluid. A dampening fluid patterning system jets dampening fluid onto the imaging member surface according to image data to form a dampening fluid pattern. The system includes a transfer member that receives the jetted dampening fluid pattern from the imaging member at a dampening fluid loading nip for subsequent inking of the dampening fluid pattern to form an ink pattern. The ink pattern is transferred to a substrate from the transfer member at an ink pattern transfer nip.
Abstract:
A system and corresponding methods are disclosed for depositing of a layer of dampening fluid to a reimageable surface of an imaging member in a variable data lithography system by way of condensation. Dampening fluid in an airborne state is introduced proximate the reimageable surface in a condensation region. Conditions in the condensation region are such that the airborne dampening fluid preferentially condenses on the reimageable surface in a precisely controlled quantity, to thereby form a precisely controlled layer of dampening fluid of desired thickness over the reimageable surface. Among other advantages, improved print quality is obtained.
Abstract:

Abstract:
A dampening system has at least one dampening ductor or roller; a dampening agent bin or trough, which holds a dampening agent, a feeding device, and a return device. The feeding device includes at least one dampening agent distributing pipe that has a number of spaced openings. A number of these dampening agent distributing pipes are assigned to the dampening ductor or roller.
Abstract:
A method for cleaning the fountain solution of a printing press with an automatically emptying separator (16), separates the dirt particles and oil residues from fountain solution and supplies them, as a mixture of dirt and fountain solution, to a dirt and fountain solution container (24) and passes the remaining fountain solution into a fountain solution storage tank (20). The dirt and fountain solution mixture in the dirt and fountain solution mixture container (24) is caused to settle in layers and the layer, containing the fountain solution, is transferred by an overflow (26) in to the fountain solution storage tank (20).
Abstract:
The present invention includes a dampening solution recirculator and a method for circulating dampening solution in a reservoir of a dampener. The dampening solution recirculator includes a tank for storing dampening solution, a pump for pumping dampening solution from the tank, a venturi positioned proximate the pump and the tank and including an inlet port in fluid communication with the pump, a suction port, and a discharge port in fluid communication with the tank. A feed conduit has a first end in fluid communication with the pump and a second end positioned above the reservoir. A suction conduit has a first end positioned at a predetermined level within the reservoir extending in a direction upwardly and away from the reservoir and a second end in fluid communication with the suction port.
