Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a phospholipid-based NIR molecular beacon, having a phospholipid moiety; with an NIR fluorophore moiety covalently linked to a phospholipid glycerol backbone and a quencher moiety covalently linked to the phospholipid glycerol backbone. Additionally, provided herein is methods of analyzing a sample for the presence of a phospholipase and methods of identifying the activity of a phospholipase in vivo utilizing phospholipid-based NIR molecular beacon.
Abstract:
Photodynamic therapy of conditions of the eye characterized by unwanted neovasculature, such as age-related macular degeneration, is effective using green porphyrins as photoactive agents, preferably as liposomal compositions.
Abstract:
The invention provides anionic water-soluble tetracyclic and pentacyclic bacteriochlorophyll derivatives (Bchls) containing at least one, preferably two or three, negatively charged groups and/or acidic groups that are converted to negatively charged groups at the physiological pH, preferably Bchls having a group COO , COS , SO3 , PO3 , COOH, COSH, SO3H, and/or PO3H2 bound through an ester or amide bond to one or more of the positions 17 , 13 , and 3 of the tetracyclic or pentacyclic Bchl molecule, for photodynamic therapy and diagnosis.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a diagnostic reagent or assay for assessing the activity of a protease in vivo or in vitro and methods of detecting the presence of a cancerous or precancerous cell. The assays are comprised of two particles linked via an oligopeptide linkage that comprises a consensus sequence specific for the target protease. Cleavage of the sequence by the target protease can be detected visually or using various sensors, and the diagnostic results can be correlated with cancer prognosis.
Abstract:
Described are methods for determining a concentration of a substance in a compartment comprising exciting an endogenous compound, or a functional part, derivative, analogue or precursor thereof, measuring the lifetime of the luminescence and/or transient absorption exhibited by the compound, functional part, derivative, analogue and/or precursor, and correlating the lifetime with the concentration of the substance.
Abstract:
Novel photo-active labeled diagnostic and therapeutic peptides which are conformationally constrained backbone cyclized somatostatin analogs, having improved somatostatin receptor subtype affinity and selectivity are disclosed. The backbone cyclized peptide analogs disclosed possess unique and superior properties over other analogs, such as chemical and metabolic stability, selectivity, increased bioavailability and improved pharmacokinetics. Furthermore, the unique patterns of receptor subtype selectivity provide compounds having improved diagnostic and therapeutic utilities. Pharmaceutical compositions comprising the photo-active backbone cyclized somatostatin analogs, reagents for synthesizing same, and methods of using such compositions for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes including optical imaging and photodynamic therapy are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The instant invention concerns compositions comprising polymersomes, visible or near infrared emissive agents, and optionally a targeting moiety associated with a surface of the polymersome. The invention also relates to use of these compositions in the treatment of disease and in imaging methodology.
Abstract:
A new class of micro- and nano-particulate paramagnetic spin probes especially useful for magnetic resonance imaging techniques, including electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The probes are lithium phthalocyanine derivative compounds. Also provided are suspensions and emulsions comprising lithium phthalocyanine derivative probes. Also provided are noninvasive methods for measuring noninvasive methods of measuring oxygen concentration, oxygen partial pressure, oxygen metabolism, and nitric oxide concentration in a specific tissue, organ, or cell in vivo or in vitro.
Abstract:
Provided are a method of injecting a visualizing material into a point in the vicinity of the Jung-Wan and a method of visualizing arrival of liquid agent in order to verify that the visualizing material injected arrives at internal organs. A point having the lowest electric resistance is found in the vicinity of Jung-Wan of the subject by using an electro acupuncture point detector. The visualizing material is injected into the point by means of an injecting instrument and then verified at least one point of the pancreas and the threadlike structures on top of the surface of the pancreas. The visualizing material is an alcian blue solution or a nanoparticle-containing solution labeled with fluorescent organic material.
