Abstract: In some example embodiments, there may be provided a method that includes receiving, at a user equipment while being served by a first system and during protocol data unit session establishment or modification procedure, a message including an access point name aggregate maximum bit rate value; and when there is an inter-system change from the first system to the second system, setting, at the user equipment, the access point name aggregate maximum bit rate value of a session management context for the second system to the received access point name aggregate maximum bit rate value received while being served by the first system. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also described.

Abstract: A method includes connecting, by a terminal device, in a protocol data unit session establishment procedure, to at least one master node and at least one network node that provides a proxy for at least one connection of the terminal device, and establishing a master multipath transmission control protocol sub-flow. The method includes receiving, at a multipath transmission control layer, a notification that includes at least one multipath transmission control segment with an add address option that advertises an internet protocol interface address of at least one of the proxy and the at least one network node, and establishing a secondary multipath transmission control protocol sub-flow to the internet protocol interface address in response to receiving the notification.

Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for efficient registration for partially supported service areas are provided. One method may include providing, to at least one user equipment registered to a network within a registration area, information comprising one or more lists of single network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAIs) and one or more lists of tracking area identities (TAIs). The one or more single network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAIs) is included in a list of rejected single network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAIs) or in a list of extended rejected single network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAIs), and is associated with a cause value indicating that the one or more single network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAIs) is not supported uniformly in the registration area and is not supported in a current tracking area.

Abstract: A system and method for saving mobile battery and empowering user equipment for controlling incoming communication and paging are provided. Also provided are a system and method for determining whether a mobile a device is in an idle mode, and in response to receiving an incoming communication from a service, determining whether the service associated with the incoming communication is on a reject list of services or a preferred list of services. The system performs a first action specified by a determination that the service is on the reject list of services or the service is not on the preferred list of services, and performs a second action specified by a determination that the service is on the preferred list of services. The first action differs from the second action.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product receive a traffic redundancy indication from a user equipment in a communication network or from a policy controller. The method, apparatus and computer program product determine whether traffic redundancy is needed for the radio access network and the user plane function based on the traffic redundancy indication. The method, apparatus and computer program product request the radio access network to not establish redundancy mechanisms in a circumstance where traffic redundancy is not needed for the radio access network. The method, apparatus and computer program product request the user plane function to not establish redundancy mechanisms in a circumstance where traffic redundancy is not needed for the user plane function.

Abstract: User equipment appends a header to a non-access stratum (NAS) message to form an encapsulated NAS message. The header is formed according to a wireline access network protocol. The user equipment transmits the encapsulated NAS message over a wireline connection between the user equipment and an interworking function of a core network. The interworking function receives the encapsulated NAS message over the wired connection and forwards the NAS message to a core network entity selected based on addressing information included in the header. A point-to-point control plane session can be established between the user equipment and the interworking function in response to a session request transmitted by the user equipment. The point-to-point control plane session can be used to convey encapsulated NAS messages, which can be used to request establishment of an NAS session for a user plane connection to the core network.
