Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide an apparatus that includes interface circuitry and processing circuitry. The interface circuitry is configured to receive signals carrying metadata that associates a region of interest in a first visual view provided by a first visual track with the first visual track and a second visual track that provides a second visual view that is a part of the first visual view. The processing circuitry is configured to parse the metadata, determine, when the region of interest is selected, the second visual track to provide visual data, and generate images for the region of interest based on the visual data from the second visual track.

Abstract: The techniques described herein relate to methods, apparatus, and computer readable media configured to encode or decode a region of interest associated with video data. A spherical region structure is associated with the video data that specifies the region of interest on a sphere, the spherical region structure including a reference point of the region of interest on the sphere, and data indicative of a set of side points, comprising a side point for each side of the region of interest on the sphere. The region of interest in the video data is determined based on the reference point and the set of side points. The video data can be composite video data. The spherical region structure, and/or metadata based on the spherical region structure, can be implicitly or explicitly associated with the video data.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure include a method of video coding. The method includes receiving input data associated with a first block and a second block of an image frame, the first block and the second block corresponding to different color space components. The method further includes identifying a reference region in the first block, identifying at least two reference unit cells among a plurality of unit cells in the reference region, identifying respective intra prediction modes for processing the identified reference unit cells, determining an intra prediction mode for processing a sub-block in the second block based on the identified intra prediction modes, and generating an intra predictor of the sub-block based on the determined intra prediction mode. The reference region and the sub-block correspond to a same region in the image frame. The method further includes encoding or decoding the sub-block based on the intra predictor of the sub-block.

The apparatus can include a decoded picture buffer (DPB) configured to store reference pictures, at least one of the reference pictures being an interpolated reference picture (IRP), an interpolation circuit configured to generate the IRP based on the reference pictures stored in the DPB, an encoding circuit configured to encode a current picture in the sequence of pictures based on a value of a variable indicating whether the current picture is to be encoded using the IRP, and an encoding controller configured to determine the value of the variable according to a size of DPB and the reference pictures stored in the DPB.

Abstract: A method of palette coding to apply the palette coding to sub-blocks of a coding unit and to allow each sub-block to use an individual palette table is disclosed. If the current coding block is not partitioned, the palette coding is applied to the current coding block using a first palette. If the current coding block is partitioned into multiple sub-blocks, the palette coding is applied to each sub-block using an individual second palette. Each sub-block may correspond to one prediction unit (PU). In another embodiment of the present invention, a method is disclosed that skips update of palette predictor such as last coded palette table, last coded palette size and palette predictor size associated with the current coding block if the current palette size is smaller than or equal to palette update size.

Abstract: A method or system for supporting dynamic construction of a user selected sub-region (e.g., viewport or region of interest) from other sub-regions of a reference media presentation is presented. The components of the reference media presentation are encoded as component tracks. A streaming decoder receives a streaming media file of the reference media presentation and displays an arbitrarily selected sub-region of the reference media presentation. The streaming media file has a derived track that (i) references one or more of the plurality of component tracks and (ii) specifies a set of operations for constructing media samples based on the media samples of the referenced component tracks. The streaming decoder provides media samples for the selected sub-region by retrieving the referenced component tracks and performing the set of operations specified by the derived track.
