Abstract: A technique for dynamically adjusting power use of an input/output (I/O) interface of an electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes an input/output (I/O) interface that facilitates electronic communications with a receiving electronic device, at a particular transmission rate that is dynamically changeable by the electronic device. Transmission power and transmission rate adjustment circuitry determines whether a step-down in a transmission power used for signal transmission at the particular transmission rate is desirable. When desirable, the transmission power is dynamically adjusted down one step, such that less power is used by the I/O interface during the electronic communications.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for grouping client devices based on sensor data in an assisted wireless communication system are provided. Sensor data may include device mobility, device type, and device application data usage, among other characteristics. An assisted wireless communication system may include client devices sending data to an access point. The clients may send conventional protocol data over a channel and, concurrently, send sensor data over an alternative channel. In some cases, client devices may exchange their protocol data, modify their own protocol data based on the exchanged data, and send the modified protocol data to the access point. This may allow the clients to adjust their grouping.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are presented to reduce multiuser interference resulting from two or more overlapping ultra wideband (UWB) transmissions by randomizing the start time of packets and/or bursts within the packets. A random offset time may be generated for a packet, and transmission of the packet may be arbitrarily delayed by that random offset time, relative to an earlier time at which the packet is prepared for transmission. A random offset time may be generated for a pulse burst within a symbol of a packet, and transmission of the burst may be delayed by that random offset time, relative to a nominal transmission window within the symbol. The burst may therefore occupy a portion of a guard period following the nominal transmission window. Either procedure, or both procedures, may be used to reduce multiuser interference between two concurrently transmitted packets by randomizing overlap occurring between the bursts.

Abstract: An inductive power transmission system electromagnetic field shielding apparatus includes an enclosure. The enclosure is configured to surround an electronic device and an inductive power transmitter that inductively transmits power to the electronic device. A communication window or high pass filter is formed in the enclosure. The communication window may include an arrangement of one or more conductive materials defining one or more apertures. The enclosure and the communication window block passage of magnetic flux generated by the inductive power transmitter. The communication window allows passage of communication transmissions associated with the electronic device.

Abstract: A wireless network may include devices that wirelessly transmit and receive packets. Each packet may include a preamble, a start-of-frame delimiter, a physical layer header, a sequence of symbols between the start-of-frame delimiter and the physical layer header, and a data payload. The sequence of symbols may have a pattern that is resistant to spoofing attacks. A receiving device may have a correlator that correlates known symbols against the symbols in the sequence using overlapping three-symbol-length correlation windows. Early arrival peaks in the output of the correlator may be used to correct time stamp information in the packets and late arrival peaks corresponding to spoofed signals from an attacker may be ignored. Time stamp information may be processed to determine ranges between transmitting and receiving devices.

Abstract: An electronic device may include wireless circuitry that is configured to transmit wireless signals during operation. A maximum transmit power level may be established that serves as a cap on how much power is transmitted from the electronic device. Adjustments may be made to the maximum transmit power level in real time based on sensor signals and other information on the operating state of the electronic device. The sensor signals may include motion signals from an accelerometer. The sensor signals may also include ultrasonic sound detected by a microphone. Device orientation data may be used by the device to select whether to measure the ultrasonic sound using a front facing or rear facing microphone. Maximum transmit power level may also be adjusted based on whether or not sound is playing through an ear speaker in the device.
