    摘要: An electronic device may be provided with wireless circuitry. The wireless circuitry may include one or more antennas. The antennas may include millimeter wave antenna arrays. Non-millimeter-wave antennas such as cellular telephone antennas may have conductive structures separated by a dielectric gap. In a device with a metal housing, a plastic-filled slot may form the dielectric gap. The conductive structures may be slot antenna structures, inverted-F antenna structures such as an inverted-F antenna resonating element and a ground, or other antenna structures. The plastic-filled slot may serve as a millimeter wave antenna window. A millimeter wave antenna array may be mounted in alignment with the millimeter wave antenna window to transmit and receive signals through the window. Millimeter wave antenna windows may also be formed from air-filled openings in a metal housing such as audio port openings.

    摘要: An electronic device may include control circuitry, sensors, and wireless circuitry having antennas. The sensors may generate sensor data that is used by the control circuitry to identify an operating environment for the device. The sensor data may include a grip map generated by a touch-sensitive display, infrared facial recognition image signals or other image signals, an angle of arrival of sound received by a set of microphones, impedance data from an impedance sensor, and any other desired sensor data. The control circuitry may use the sensor data, radio-frequency spatial ranging data, information about whether audio is being played over an ear speaker, and/or information about communications protocols in use to identify the operating environment. The control circuitry may adjust antenna settings for the wireless circuitry based on the identified operating environment to ensure that the antennas operate with satisfactory antenna efficiency regardless of operating conditions.

The enclosure is configured to surround an electronic device and an inductive power transmitter that inductively transmits power to the electronic device. A communication window or high pass filter is formed in the enclosure. The communication window may include an arrangement of one or more conductive materials defining one or more apertures. The enclosure and the communication window block passage of magnetic flux generated by the inductive power transmitter. The communication window allows passage of communication transmissions associated with the electronic device.

    摘要: A host device is configured to increase the power output by an internal amplifier of its wireless chipset in response to requests from a remote device. Once the internal amplifier has reached its maximum power, further requests for power increases from the remove device do not similarly lead to automatic power increases being delivered by a external amplifier of the host device. Rather, the host device determines the strength of the link between it and the remote device. If the signal strength is too low, it is an indication that the signal power output by the remote device may not be sufficient to maintain the link and that any further increases in signal power by the host device will have little or no effect on the link. However, if the signal strength from the remote device is sufficient, the host device determines an error rate between it and the remote device. If the error rate is sufficiently low to maintain the link, then the host device will not further increase its signal output power. However, if the error rate is too high, the host device will turn on and/or increase power from its external amplifier to boost the power of its output signal and, thus, improve the error rate between it and the remote device.

    摘要: An electronic device may be provided with wireless circuitry. The wireless circuitry may include antennas. The antennas may include phased antenna arrays for handling millimeter wave signals. Antennas may be located in antenna signal paths. The antenna signal paths may include adjustable components such as adjustable filters, adjustable gain amplifiers, and adjustable phase shifters. Circuitry may be incorporated into an electronic device to facilitate wireless self-testing operations. Wireless self-testing may involve use of one antenna to transmit an over-the-air antenna test signal that is received by another antenna. The circuitry that facilitates the wireless self-testing operations may include couplers, adjustable switches for temporarily shorting antenna signal paths together, mixers for mixing down radio-frequency signals to allow digitization with analog-to-digital converters, and other circuitry for supporting self-testing operations.
