Abstract:
In a press with two parallel, spaced apart multiple-acting cylinders that have their respective pistons connected to end portions of a beam to which a bending or forming tool is secured, the cylinders are respectively fed from effectively separate pressure fluid sources providing equal pressures and flow rates. For synchronization of piston extension through an initial rapid advance, the chamber of each cylinder that is normally pressurized for retraction of its piston is connected in feedback relation to the pressure fluid source for the other cylinder, so that fluid expelled from a leading cylinder augments the fluid supply to the lagging one. The system further comprises a pair of sensors, one for each beam end, and a synchronizing bleed-off valve for each sensor. During the working portion of the extension stroke each sensor responds to the relative position of its beam end to impress control signals upon its associated synchronizing valve whereby fluid being charged into the cylinder at its beam end is bled off at the rate necessary to maintain exact piston synchronization; and at the end of the extension stroke the sensors cause full opening of both synchronizing valves for accurate stopping of the beam.
Abstract:
A fluid arrangement for the alternating operation of an apparatus includes a working cylinder with a working piston endowed with an alternating movement and a control cylinder with an alternatingly moving control piston. Each of the cylinders has for the respective piston a driving chamber which is alternately connected to a supply source of fluid under pressure and to a discharge opening for the fluid through a distributor, and a return chamber permanently connected to the supply source of fluid under pressure. The distributor connected to the driving chamber in the working cylinder is the control cylinder, and the distributor connected to the driving chamber in the control cylinder is the working chamber.
Abstract:
A control valve for a servomotor wherein vacuum, air at atmospheric pressure and air above atmospheric pressure are sequentially communicated to a rear chamber of the servomotor to create an operational pressure differential across a movable wall with vacuum in a front chamber to develop an input force to meet an operational output condition.
Abstract:
In a series hydraulic system involving a master hydraulic motor and a slave hydraulic motor in series, a pump means responsive to hydraulic pressure on the input side of the master hydraulic motor, is utilized to pump into that portion of the system between the master piston and the slave piston, a small amount of hydraulic fluid just sufficient to compensate for loss of volume in that portion of the system attributable to compressibility of the hydraulic fluid and expansibility of the associated system components.
Abstract:
There is provided a fastener driving tool having a control valve arrangement including a trigger valve, a cycling valve and a safety valve. The cycling valve is adapted to repetitively cycle the driving piston of the fastener driving tool through power and return strokes or to provide for single-cycling of the piston through a drive and return stroke in response to the position of the trigger. In addition there is provided an arrangement wherein the operation of the piston is arrested when the bumper cushioning the power stroke of the piston is excessively worn.
Abstract:
An improved crosser machine is provided including a continuous apron driven by two spaced-apart reciprocating arms that are adapted to move together through the action of separate hydraulic cylinders. The crosser includes a control mechanism for maintaining the alignment of the apron including valve means adapted to bleed small quantities of hydraulic fluid from the hydraulic lines as required to bring the arms into alignment in the event one arm leads the other, and sensing means to determine the relative positions of the arms and to control the valve means. The crosser serves to lay alternate layers of a web back and forth over itself to build up a thickness of the web material.

A HYDRAULIC MOTOR UNIT CONSTITUTED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THREE MAIN SUB-UNITS CONNECTED BY GENERALLY PLANE FACES. THE CENTRAL SUB-UNIT CONTAINING THE ROTOR IS DISPOSED BETWEEN THE DISC-BRAKE SUB-UNIT AND THE SUB-UNIT CONTAINING THE NON ROTAR PARTS OF THE SUPPLY AND EXHAUST SYSTEM.
Abstract:
A fluid-pressure-operable actuator includes first restrictor means, effective upon fluid exhausting from the actuator, which are brought automatically into operation as the actuator approaches the end of its stroke. The actuator also includes second restrictor means operable then automatically to restrict the flow of in-going fluid to the actuator. The two restrictor means thereby provide a very positive arrangement for retarding the actuator as it approaches the end of its stroke.
