Abstract: A vehicle thermal management system includes a vehicle heat pump system, a battery system coolant loop, a drive train coolant loop, and control electronics. The vehicle heat pump system includes a compressor, a cabin condenser, a cabin evaporator, a cabin blower, and a chiller. The battery system coolant loop is in thermal communication with a battery system and with the chiller and selectively in thermal communication with the drive train coolant loop. The control electronics control the components of the vehicle thermal management system to heat the cabin, cool the cabin, heat the battery system, cool the battery system, and cool the drive train. The control electronics may control the compressor to operate in an efficient mode or a lossy mode in which the compressor generates heat. The control electronics may also control the components of the vehicle thermal management system to precondition the battery.

Abstract: A process and apparatus for cooling a heat generating component of a vehicle comprises pumping coolant from a first pump while a first pump is in a chiller mode in a first loop comprising a component heat exchanger and a chiller module. Coolant is pumped from the first pump while the first pump is in a recirculation mode in a second loop comprising a heater module, and a cabin heat exchanger or back to said component heat exchanger. A second pump pumps coolant in the second loop while the second pump is in an isolated mode and from the second pump from the second loop into the first loop while the second pump is in a linked mode.

Abstract: A heat management system includes a high-temperature heat medium circuit, a low-temperature heat medium circuit, a circuit connection part, and a circuit switching part. The high-temperature heat medium circuit connects a heat medium and refrigerant heat exchanger and a heater core. The heat management system is switched by the circuit switching part between an operation mode in which the heat medium heated by the heat medium and refrigerant heat exchanger is circulated through the heater core and an operation mode in which the heat medium heated by the heat generation equipment and the heat medium and refrigerant heat exchanger is circulated through the heater core.

Abstract: An air-conditioning system for a motor vehicle is disclosed. The air-conditioning system includes a refrigerant circuit for being flowed through by a refrigerant. In the refrigerant circuit, a compressor for compressing the refrigerant, a condenser for condensing the refrigerant subject to passing condensation heat on to a fluid conducted through the condenser, an expansion device for expanding the refrigerant and an evaporator for evaporating the refrigerant are arranged. A coolant circuit is provided fluidically separated from the refrigerant circuit for being flowed through by a coolant. In the coolant circuit at least one heat source for heating the coolant is arranged. The coolant circuit is thermally connected to the refrigerant circuit via the evaporator of the refrigerant circuit, so that in the evaporator heat from the coolant is transferrable to the refrigerant.

Abstract: A thermal management system for a vehicle adjusts a temperature of a battery module by using one chiller that performs heat exchange between a refrigerant and a coolant. The thermal management system includes: a cooling apparatus for circulating a coolant in a coolant line to cool an electrical component and an oil cooler provided in the coolant line; a battery cooling apparatus for circulating the coolant to the battery module; a chiller to cause heat exchange between the coolant and a refrigerant to control a temperature of the coolant; a heater that heats an interior of the vehicle using the coolant; and a first branch line connected to the coolant line between the oil cooler and a radiator through a first valve. In particular, a condenser included in the air conditioner is connected to the coolant line so as to pass the coolant circulating through the cooling apparatus.
