The present invention relates to the encoding and decoding of image information. According to the present invention, the decoding method comprises the steps of: entropy-decoding received information; performing inter prediction on a current block based on the entropy-decoded information; and restoring images by using the prediction results, wherein, in the inter prediction step, a skip mode or merge mode is applied to the current block and movement information of the current block may be determined based on the movement information of a neighboring block of the current block.

An intra prediction method includes the steps of: acquiring intra prediction mode information from a bitstream; deriving neighboring samples of a current block; determining an intra prediction mode for the current block on the basis of the intra prediction mode information; deriving a prediction sample of the current block on the basis of the intra prediction mode and the neighboring samples; determining filtering reference samples for the prediction sample on the basis of the intra prediction mode; and deriving a filtered prediction sample by applying filtering to the prediction sample on the basis of the filtering reference samples. According to the present invention, a prediction sample can be adaptively filtered according to the intra prediction mode, and intra prediction performance can be improved.

A method for intra prediction comprises determining a first MPM candidate corresponding to a left-side candidate block on the basis of a position of the left-side candidate block adjacent to a left side of a current block; determining a second MPM candidate corresponding to an upper-end candidate block on the basis of a position of the upper-end candidate block adjacent to an upper end of the current block; generating an MPM candidate list including a plurality of MPM candidates, on the basis of the first MPM candidate and the second MPM candidate; and determining one MPM candidate of the plurality of the MPM candidates that constitute the MPM candidate list as an intra prediction mode of the current block, and performing intra prediction for the current block on the basis of the determined intra prediction mode to generate a prediction block corresponding to the current block.

A method for image decoding, according to the present invention, includes the following steps: receiving image information including a plurality of filter coefficients; generating a restored block for a current block on the basis of the image information; and applying an adaptive loop filter to the restored block on the basis of the plurality of filter coefficients. According to the present invention, image encoding efficiency may be improved, arid complexity may be reduced.

An intra prediction method performed by a decoding device, according to the present invention, comprises the steps of: deriving an intra prediction mode for a current block; deriving neighboring samples of the current block; and generating a prediction sample for the current block by using at least one of the neighboring samples according to the intra prediction mode, wherein the derived neighboring samples include left neighboring samples, upper left neighboring samples, upper neighboring samples, right neighboring samples, lower right neighboring samples, and lower neighboring samples of the current block. According to the present invention, intra prediction performance can be improved by using expanded neighboring reference samples, and coding efficiency for CUs can be improved.

The present invention discloses a method and apparatus for encoding or decoding a video signal. The method for processing a video signal according to the present invention uses a merging mode in which prediction information on a neighbor unit is used instead of transmitting prediction information on the present unit, so as to improve coding efficiency. In this case, the number of available candidate units for merging among the units in a predetermined position is determined, and information for the merging mode is acquired on the basis of the number of the available candidate units for merging. The unit to be merged is determined using the information for the merging mode, and prediction information on the unit to be merged is acquired. The prediction value for the present unit is acquired using the prediction information on the unit to be merged, and the present unit is restored using the acquired prediction value.
