Abstract: An enterprise private network includes a simplified Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) core architecture for interworking between an Evolved Packet System (EPS) and a Fifth Generation (5G) system (5GS). The architecture includes an Evolved Packet Core (EPC) control plane (CP) (EPC CP) unit and a 5G core (5GC) CP (5GC CP) unit. The 5GC CP unit receives, from the EPC CP unit via an N26 interface, a message indicating a forward relocation request responsive to an indication of a handover of a Packet Data Network (PDN) connection at a user plane node from the EPS to the 5GS. The 5GC CP node establishes a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session corresponding to the PDN connection based on PDN connection information in the message, which includes establishing a Quality of Service (QoS) Flow corresponding to an EPS bearer, and manages the PDU session at the user plane node.

Abstract: Presented herein are techniques to facilitate extending a multiple access Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session and Access Traffic Steering, Switching, and Splitting Low-Layer (ATSSS-LL) policies to an enterprise network. In one example, a method may include obtaining a request for an ATSSS-LL policy for a user equipment (UE) for establishing a multiple access protocol data unit session for the UE via a wireless wide area access network for an enterprise network; and providing to the UE one or more ATSSS-LL rules for the ATSSS-LL policy, an Internet Protocol (IP) address for the multiple access protocol data unit session for the UE, and an identifier for the multiple access protocol data unit session for the UE in which the IP address is utilized for a wireless local area access network connection for the UE established via a wireless local area access network of the enterprise network.

Abstract: Presented herein are techniques to facilitate fast roaming between a mobile network operator-public (MNO-public) wireless wide area (WWA) access network and an enterprise private WWA access network. In one example, a method is provided that may include generating, by an authentication node, authentication material for a user equipment (UE) based on the UE being connected to a public WWA access network, wherein the public WWA access network is associated with a mobile network operator, and the authentication node and the UE are associated with an enterprise entity; obtaining, by the authentication node, an indication that the UE is attempting to access a private WWA access network associated with the enterprise entity; and providing, by the authentication node, the authentication material for the UE, wherein the authentication material facilitates connection establishment between the UE and the private WWA access network.

In one example, a method includes determining, by an application network policy controller, service information for an application, wherein the application communicates with an application server. Abstract: In one example, an authentication server generates a Chargeable User Identity (CUI) for a User Equipment (UE) based on a first indication of an identifier obtained from the UE based on communications of the UE over a first network interface of a system. The authentication server obtains a second indication of the identifier based on communications of the UE over a second network interface of the system. In response to obtaining the second indication of the identifier, the authentication server determines that the UE is attempting to communicate over the second network interface. In response to determining that the UE is attempting to communicate over the second network interface, the authentication server uses the CUI for further communications of the UE over the second network interface.

Abstract: A method is provided in one example embodiment and may include configuring a slice identity for each of a plurality of virtual radio access network (vRAN) slices, wherein each vRAN slice comprises functionality to perform, at least in part, one or more radio protocol operations on subscriber traffic; configuring an allotment of radio resources that can be utilized by each vRAN slice of the plurality of vRAN slices; receiving, by a slice manager, a subscriber profile identity (SPID) for a subscriber; and mapping the SPID for the subscriber to a particular vRAN slice of the plurality of vRAN slices. The method can further include communicating the mapping for the subscriber to the particular vRAN slice to which the SPID is mapped. The method can further include communicating the allotment of radio resources that can be utilized by the particular vRAN slice to the particular vRAN slice.

Abstract: A method is provided in one example embodiment and may include monitoring, by a radio access network (RAN) orchestration function, impairments between a plurality of candidate locations interconnected by a transport network, wherein one or more network elements capable of performing one or more operations associated with a RAN are located at the plurality of candidate locations; determining a decomposition of one or more operations associated with the RAN into a plurality of sets of virtualized network functions (VNFs) to execute the operations; determining a distribution of the plurality of sets of VNFs among the one or more network elements associated with the RAN for one or more optimal locations of the plurality of candidate locations based, at least in part, on the monitored impairments; and instantiating the plurality of sets of VNFs at each of the one or more optimal locations.
