Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communications, and more specifically increasing user capacity through a frame structure which supports enhanced Machine Type Communication (eMTC) UL multi-user multiplexing. For example, a User Equipment (UE) identifies at least one narrowband region within a wider system bandwidth. The UE receives signaling, from a base station, indicating a sub-region of the narrowband region assigned to the UE for transmitting symbols of a physical uplink channel that are multiplexed with symbols transmitted by one or more other UEs in the narrowband region. The UE transmits the physical uplink channel in the assigned sub-region. Similar techniques are also provided that may be applied to DL multi-user multiplexing.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for reference signal design in wireless communications. A base station may select a reference signal density scheme from a set of available density schemes associated with a port count. The reference signal density scheme may also be selected based on the category of the mobile device receiving the reference signal transmissions. The reference signal density scheme may be a higher density reference signal density scheme or a lower density reference signal density scheme, where the higher density reference signal density scheme includes more reference signal resource elements per subframe. The mobile device may determine the reference signal density scheme based on characteristics of a channel. The higher density reference signal density scheme may provide additional channel estimation opportunities for the mobile device. In some cases, the mobile device sends the channel estimated based on the received reference signals to the base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for low latency communications within a wireless communications system. An eNB and/or a UE may be configured to operate within the wireless communications system and may send triggers to initiate communications using a dedicated resource in a wireless communications network that supports transmissions having a first subframe type and a second subframe type, the first subframe type comprising symbols of a first duration and the second subframe type comprising symbols of a second duration that is shorter than the first duration. Communications may be initiated by transmitting a trigger from the UE or eNB using the dedicated resource, and initiating communications following the trigger. The duration of time between the trigger and initiating communications can be significantly shorter than the time to initiate communications using legacy LTE communications.

Abstract: This disclosure describes methods, devices, and systems for techniques related to random access channel (RACH) operation. A user equipment (UE) may establish a connection with a base station using a random access procedure. Based on a transmission priority or a network parameter, the random access procedure may be a two-step random access procedure or a four-step random access procedure. The described techniques may support physical layer procedures, including resource configurations and communication schemes that may support enhanced signaling capacity. In some examples, the described techniques may include signaling characteristics and resource mappings for two-step random access procedure based on a transmission priority. In other examples, the described techniques may include antenna techniques associated with a four-step random access procedure. The physical layer procedures may include features for improved data rates, increased spectral efficiency and, in some examples, may promote low latency communication associated with random access, among other advantages.

Abstract: Systems and methods facilitating feedback of robust channel state information (CSI), such as to provide full CSI feedback or otherwise providing CSI feedback, are described. CSI encoders and/or decoders used by network nodes may implement channel compression/reconstruction based upon neural-network (NN) training of collected channels. A structured payload having an interpretable payload portion and an uninterpretable payload portion may utilized with respect to CSI feedback. The channel compression provided according to some aspects of the disclosure supports feedback of robust CSI, in some instances including full CSI, as determined by a particular network node. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Uplink clear channel assessment (CCA) status is disclosed as a new uplink control message for new radio (NR) unlicensed (NR-U) operations. When an opportunity for potential uplink transmissions arises for a user equipment (UE), the UE will perform a CCA procedure on available uplink resources. The UE reports the results of the CCA procedure to a serving base station via an uplink control message, such as an uplink control information (UCI), physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), or the like. The serving base station may then use the CCA results in scheduling uplink transmissions and reserving uplink resources.
