Abstract: Systems and methods for formatting frames in neighborhood aware networks are described herein. One aspect of the subject matter described in the disclosure provides a method of communicating in a wireless neighborhood aware network (NAN). The method includes determining a discovery period. The method further includes generating a discovery window information element indicating a start time of a discovery window. The method further includes generating a NAN beacon or other sync frame comprising the discovery period and the discovery window information element. The method further includes transmitting, at a wireless device, the NAN beacon or other sync frame during the discovery window.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for communicating data in a wireless communications network are described herein. In some aspects, a station includes a first receiver and a low power circuit including a second receiver. The second receiver may be configured to consume less power than the first receiver. The second receiver receives short paging messages from another wireless device, such as an access point. The paging messages may trigger transitions of the first receiver from inactive doze or sleep states to active awake states based on Traffic Information Maps. Once in the awake state, the first receiver receives messages. This enables the first receiver to reduce the time spent awake, thereby reducing power consumption. A system and method for identifying and managing paging modes is described herein.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for multiple user uplink are provided. In one aspect, a method for wireless communication is provided. The method includes transmitting a clear to transmit (CTX) message to two or more stations, the CTX indicating an uplink transmission opportunity, the CTX message further comprising a request that the two or more stations concurrently transmit uplink data at a specific time. The method further includes receiving a plurality of uplink data from at least two stations at the specific time.

Abstract: An access point (AP) may prioritize the allocation of uplink resources between multiple basic service sets (BSSs). In some aspects, the AP may select one of a plurality of BSSs, may allocate one or more random resource units (RUs) to only the selected BSS, and may transmit a frame indicating the allocation of the one or more random RUs to the selected BSS. Wireless devices belonging to the selected BSS may contend for access to the random RUs allocated by the frame, and then transmit uplink data using the random RUs.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for high-efficiency wireless frequency division multiplexing are provided. A method includes exchanging, at an access point, at least one frame reserving a wireless medium with at least one of a first and second wireless device. The method further includes receiving a first communication on a first set of wireless frequencies from the first wireless device. The method further includes receiving a second communication, at least partially concurrent with the first communication, on a second set of wireless frequencies from the second wireless device. The method further includes transmitting at least one acknowledgment of the first and second communication. Abstract: A method, apparatus, and non-transitory computer readable media configured to adaptively enable a request to send/clear to send protocol is disclosed herein. An embodiment may comprise identifying one or more rules including on one or more of a plurality of communication link characteristics of a plurality of communication links between an access point and one or more devices of a plurality of devices. An embodiment may further comprise selectively enabling the request to send/clear to send protocol between the access point and the one or more devices of the plurality of wireless devices based on whether each link characteristic of the one or more rules has satisfied a link characteristics threshold in each rule. In certain embodiments, a station or an access point may identify a rule and transmit the rule to other devices, stipulating one or more conditions which request to send/clear to send is to be used.

Abstract: Systems and methods for allowing group access to the wireless medium of a wireless network are disclosed. In one aspect, the method includes performing a backoff procedure for each of one or more certain classes. The method may further include receiving an indication that the backoff procedure for at least one of the one or more certain classes is complete. In some aspects, once the backoff procedure for a class is completed, performing one or more transmissions which are transmittable simultaneously with other transmissions in the class. Finally, the method may update the backoff procedures for the class based on the one or more transmissions. In some aspects, the backoff procedures may be updated based on certain fairness conditions.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer readable storage media communicate with a wireless device within a dense wireless environment. In one aspect, a method includes determining whether a wireless device is subject to interference, adjusting a transmission attribute based on the determining, and transmitting a message to the wireless device based on the adjusted transmission attribute. In some aspects, adjusting a transmission attribute may include selecting one or more of time division multiplexing or frequency division multiplexing when communicating with the wireless device. In some aspects, particular time periods and/or particular frequency bands may be selected for communication with the device depending on whether the device is subject to interference.
