摘要: A grille shutter actuation system for a vehicle includes a grille shutter, a linear actuator having a cylinder with first and second orifices and a piston. The piston is connected to the grille shutter for moving same. Fluid is pumped into one of the orifices through first or second hoses for moving the piston. A bi-directional motor is connected to the pump, and a controller controls a direction of rotation of a motor shaft in response to an input. A control module provides the input to the controller which determines whether fluid is pumped into the first or second orifice dependent upon the direction of rotation of the shaft. The input is determined by the control module based on information from the controller and/or a sensor associated with the grille shutter. The pump and motor may be remotely mounted within an engine compartment, for example, a distance from the linear actuator(s).

摘要: A compact aircraft cabin crew attendant seat includes a seat back portion, a shell that encloses the seat back portion, a head rest portion mounted to a top portion of the seat back portion, and a seat portion or squab. The seat portion includes a hinge that is slidably attached within a vertical slot in the shell, allowing the seat portion to be folded down in an open position of the crew attendant seat for use. The seat portion hinge moves vertically between an upper position in the compact closed position and a lower position in the open position. A major portion of the crew attendant seat is formed from high strength carbon fiber reinforced composite to reduces weight. A vertical shock absorption system is configured to absorb energy during a crash landing.

摘要: A vehicular sensing system, a vehicle and a method of performing one or both of vehicular mapping and navigating operations using the sensing system. The sensing system includes one or more sensors, a retractable mounting structure secured to a roof of the vehicle to be selectively placed within a recess formed in the roof. The mounting structure and sensor cooperative with one another such that the mounting structure selectively moves the sensor between a stowed position and a deployed position. A fairing is used to cover at least a portion of the sensing system and the recess when the sensing system is stowed within the recess. In a deployed position, the sensor is extended away from the roof to permit the sensor to acquire mapping or navigation data, while in its stowed position, the sensor, mounting structure and fairing define aesthetically-pleasing and aerodynamically unobtrusive profile across the portion of the roof that corresponds to the recess.

摘要: An apparatus for locating, inspecting, or placing marks on a roadway. The apparatus includes a GPS-based machine vision locator for sampling discrete geographical location data of a pre-existing roadway mark evident on the roadway. A computer may determine a continuous smooth geographical location function fitted to the sampled geographical location data. A marker is responsive to the GPS-based locator and geographical location function for replicating automatically the pre-existing roadway mark onto the roadway. The apparatus is typically part of a moving vehicle. A related method is disclosed for locating, inspecting, and placing marks on a resurfaced roadway. A similar apparatus can be used to guide a vehicle having a snow plow along a snow-covered roadway, or a paving machine along an unpaved roadway surface. The apparatus provides for accurate determination of roadway mark locations, roadway mark inspection apparatus and roadway markers using Bayesian model-based filtered enhanced GPS geographical location data.

摘要: A vehicle safety belt webbing and tongue/latch plate stowage assembly includes a safety belt webbing retractor disposed in a compartment and a pocket disposed adjacent to the compartment and configured for receiving the safety belt tongue/latch plate therein. The pocket is defined by at least a divider and a door configured for translation between an open configuration and a closed configuration. The closed configuration defines a gap between the wall and the door sufficient for passage therethrough of a safety belt webbing. A damper controls the rate of translation of the door between the open configuration and the closed configuration, providing a soft touch opening/closing feature. The door may be configured for pivoting between the open and closed configurations, or for sliding between the open and closed configurations.
